We also lost a game in our playoff cushion as the Phillies have jumped the Cardinals for 2nd in the WC and the Cubs are now 10 games ahead of them. Looks like our playoff odds are going down.

wait, this has to be a joke post

my prediction that the brewers win the division, despite this being the best cubs team in over half a century still stands.

the brewers are going to win the division. start keeping an eye on the wild card standings.

You may have been right about Jim Edmonds but you are deathly wrong here

You do realize that the Brewers face the Mets tomorrow, and Santana is pitching, right?

Encouraging but ultimately irrelevant given that the Brewers are incapable of losing.

Just trying to be optimistic,. \:D/

This post should be saved, and we'll see just how right/wrong Sulley is when the playoffs start.

OH NOES WE'RE NOT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS NOW. ONLY 10 GAME LEAD AFTER WE INEXPLICABLY SPLIT A SERIES VS A GOOD TEAM? THIS IS MADNESS

4.5 game lead with 3 against a hot Astros club while the Sewers continue their infinite homestand...

yikes

Brewers were just on the road for 5. Home stand starts Monday.

How exactly someone would take it as a negative that we have a 4.5 game lead and we're facing the Astros while they face the Mets is beyond me, but whatever. At worst, the matchups are a wash.

In reality, they're dramatically in our favor.

The Brewers have beaten Santana this year, and the Mets are going up against Sheets.

- Astros are on a hot streak and always hit well against the Cubs

- Cubs are in a mini-slump right now

- Jason Marquis vs. Roy Oswalt

- Brewers on a winning streak with no signs of slowing

It's a perfect storm of pessimism. Plenty of reasons to be negative about this week.

Oh geez dude, I meant they are going down like from 99.9% to 99.4%

Calm down guys, I was the guy posting that if the Cubs went 12-13, the Brewers would have to go 17-9 to tie us a couple of pages ago. Anyone who thought I was saying that we're not going to make the playoffs is pretty clueless.

It's ridiculous how bad the people are that call out every and all forms of pessimism in a game thread. I said something that could be taken 2 different ways, and even though its pretty obvious that no one here is worried about making the playoffs, there were multiple people here jumping in and assuming thats what was being said.

Seriously, what did you people expect vs the Pirates? You're acting like the Brewers just reeled off 17 in a row against the AL East or something. The Brewers are beating up on terrible teams like they should. The Mets are not a terrible team.

It's not a matter of what was or wasn't expected. The fact is that they were wins, regardless of who they played or what we expected the outcome to be, wins that count against anything favorable for the Cubs.

And obviously a bunch of wins in a row vs. the Pirates says something about how they'll do against the Mets, which is essentially what you were implying.

No I just meant that as someone who has been following the Cubs playoff odds on various sites for the last few weeks, I finally saw them get to 99.9%, but after losing a game in the standings to the 2nd place team in the Wild Card, it will surely go down. Reading the post again, I can understand a little why it was taken that way but use some logic. I've been trying to hard to not offend the Pessimism Police over the last 2 months, so it was weird when I made that post and came back to find multiple people calling me out on it like I think the Cubs will blow a 10 game lead in the final 26 games.
