Unfortunately hes got no shot, but shouldn't Ramirez get at least mentioned in MVP talks? I know his numbers aren't overwhelming, but every time I hear NL MVP talk they don't even mention him.

Anyways, just a minor gripe on yet another very enjoyable night.

i would like to nominate CSN philadelphia for worst camerawork in history on that home run. they showed a wide view of CF like the guy was parked under the ball. then ARam is trotting around the bases and I'm thinking wtf just happened, they made it look like a routine fly even though i thought he drilled it.

They did that in case of instant replay.

I could take that same type of win a month from now in the first game of the playoffs against the Phills...my man-crush for this team grows by the day...it's starting to feel like a magical season folks!

if there are no pictures of Aramis' pose I'm going to find every professional photographer at wrigley and revoke their media credentials.

We offically got over the 6 GA bump that we matched in 2001 and 1989 and we are now the most games over .500 since 1984

I think the "most games over .500" thing goes back waaay before 1984 now....the other night I read we had hit the "most games over since 1945" mark with the 1930's not far away.

Great win for the Cubs.

This is the kind of game that you remember for a while. Statement kind of win. During so far a magical season for the Cubs.

I hate you guys.

Actually they're the furthest over .500 since 1945.

i've been watching that home run over and over and over again. the best part of it was watching the old man in green standing in the front row behind the backstop and the utter joy that he elicited as he hopped up against the netting with this huge childlike grin on his face.

we need to win for guys like him.

32 over was max in 1984 and 1969. They're now 34 over. Best since 1945.

42 over was the top in 1945.

Totally.

I'll be so happy for Ron Santo if we win a championship in his lifetime. Right now I think that's the only thing keeping him going with all the health problems that he has.

Things that are silly:

- The Cubs are now on pace for 102 wins, which would be their most since 1910. This would require a 18-10 finish.

- A .500 finish of 14-14 would put the Cubs at 98-64 on the year. The only way they'd miss the playoffs at that pace would be if the Brewers finished at least 22-7, and either the Cardinals finished 25-3 or both the Phillies and Mets finished at least 26-2 and 25-3, respectively.

- The Cubs have scored the most runs in the NL (8 behind the Rangers for most in MLB), and given up the fewest runs in the NL (21 behind the Rays for fewest in MLB). They currently sport a 193 run differential, which is 105 runs better than the next closest NL team (the Phillies).

- The Cubs are still somehow 3 games under their Pythagorean (according to ESPN). If all teams played to their Pythagorean records, the Cubs would lead the entire NL by 10 games, and their division by 12.5.
