IMHO, if we were to lose a game between the Nats and Reds, it would probably be this one, or else game 1 vs. the Natspos. We all know how TRL likes giving up meatballs to Cincinatti players of the past, present, and future so this would be a real nice night for the wind to blow in.

Still, Im expecting a win here. The past few games, the offense hasnt come to like until the late innings, and the one before that, it didnt come to life at all, so hopefully this can be one of those games where the Cubbie Carousel gets going early on, and we can chase Arroyo early and he can have his own private jam sesion in the clubhouse by the 4th inning.

Eric Davis, Chris Sabo, and Candy Maldanado will all homer.

Oh, wait, Lieber isn't pitching. Nevermind.

I don't think that 5 of 6 on this homestand is unreasonable. We can handle the Dunn-less Reds, and Washington is beyond horrible. This should be cake.

So when was the last time the Cubs were 30 games over .500?

Soriano downplays his overwhelming MVP campaign:

The Cubs are 19-6 since Alfonso Soriano's return, but the left fielder said it's just a coincidence.

"This game is not like basketball, where one player can make a difference," Soriano said. "I add a lot of motivation, and as a team we play better, but we have a lot of great hitters. One day it's Aramis [Ramirez], one day it's Derrek Lee, one day it's Soto, and one day [Mark] DeRosa. It's not just one guy."

Tell that to CC Sabathia.

I wonder whats going on with BA that he has become so ineffective. Maybe he has lost all will to pitch since he is now with the Reds and is playing for Baker.

He's probably saying to himself, "hell no I'm not blowing out my arm for this guy."

I hate WCIU!

I hate any game that isn't on WGN.

I agree. I had all the Cubs games at my aunts house where I was living during the summer.

Now, my apartment only gets WGN for Cubs games that aren't on ESPN, FOX, etc.

Cubs with a 99.44% chance of making the playoffs.

So you're telling me there's a chance!

I love that we (and the players, it seems) expect to win every night. That's the way it should be.

So, Ted, you're due for a good outing. Make it happen.

Ted Lilly has looked good in his last couple outings I'm pretty sure,

Lilly has been good or better more often than not for a while now, so I'm not quite sure how he's "due for a good outing."

Ted Lilly has looked good in his last couple outings I'm pretty sure,

3 August starts: 2-0 record

6.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K's, 6 H's, 3 BB's

7.1 IP, 2 ER, 4 K's, 7 H's, 2 BB's

6.0 IP, 4 ER, 8 K's, 8 H's, 2 BB's

and ONLY 2 HR's in those 3 starts =D>

So if he follows the pattern, he'll go

7.0 IP 8 ER, 7K's, 9H's 3 BB's
