I think it was pretty dumb. Yeah, Lilly was looking out for his guy, but whats the point in potentially risking suspensions vs. a team whose going nowhere any time soon?

team unity/chemistry, which is bigger than a pitcher missing a start or a position player being suspended for a couple of games.

They're not suspending for a couple of games anymore. That Braves buscher got 3 games for throwing at Soriano. They're giving out 4-6 game suspensions for all out brawls these days.

Id be bitter too if my once promising career went down the toilet because I wasnt able to use steroids or whatever anymore.

Say what you want about him, but I doubt he was a juicer, ever.

I was going to go kick his ass, but then I remembered he's too far away. that and he's bigger and in much better shape than me

You could always just drive down there and run him over with your giant gas guzzling truck.

The Giles incident was in 03 and the roster is night and day different from what it was back then.

There was the Fick thing in the playoffs too, though. Granted the rosters are way different, but these two teams have something of a history, especially for non-division rivals.

That team is a reflection of Bobby Cox. Cox is a good manager, for the most part, but he is really old school, and takes great offense to the smallest perceived slight or insult. He encourages this type of activity. JMO

Cox ain't crap without Shuerholtz...he was the magic.

Cox does have one heck of an eye for talent. Chipper Jones was HIS DECISION. He also help signed Latino's like Furcal, Lopez, etc, etc. The problem with Cox is that he can't coach up the talent he finds....

Going after someone because they 'pimped a homer' or whatever you want to call it is freaking stupid. This is the 21st Century, guys pose, wake up Braves. The Cubs arent going to lay back and let them do that to one of their best hitters, how freaking dumb are they to not expect a retaliation. Escobar is a complete spaz too.

Come on. Chipper was the number 1 overall pick and spent less than two years in the minors. Only a really dumb person would have passed on Chipper.

Thankfully for Chipper, Dusty never managed the Braves.

maybe he should tell his pitchers to stop giving up so many homeruns to soriano,, then this problem wouldn't exist

Todd Van Poppel was the consensus number one pick that year. But Van Poppel said publicly that if Atlanta took him he would not sign with them. The Braves (including Cox) wanted Van Poppel. They got lucky that they were forced in a position to take Chipper over Van Poppel.
