I'm going to be going there in two weeks. I was wondering if anybody has any tips for the trip. I wanna take some nice photos to show my dad, that statues, monument park, etc. All I can think to do is to get there really early, anything else?

I think they close Monument Park like 30 minutes-1 hour before gametime. If you want to see that, then get there early. If you're sitting in the bleachers, be prepared for a lot of roudiness. Also, be prepared for $8 beer.

For a simple baseball experience, it's pretty nice, but the stadium isn't in great condition.

Bring earplugs for all of the annoying Yankee fans, plan on paying about $9 for a beer, and unfortunately be ready to be disappointed by everything except Monument Park.

Yankee Stadium underwent a major renovation in the 1970s and, therefore, resembles a 1970s stadium for the most part. Its crappy like parts of Wrigley, but not historically crappy and, therefore, isn't nearly as cool as Wrigley or Fenway.

If you are sitting in the bleachers, the price of beer isn't an issue.

Yea, I know. The two statements are independent of each other. It's actually good they don't serve beer in the bleachers because the fans are crazy enough without it.

I think it's pretty stupid. It encourages getting wasted before showing up and bringing in hard liquor. I've been out there when beer was available, and it wasn't that bad. You wouldn't bring your 12-year old daughter, but it hasn't gotten any better since banning beer.

I don't think there is a worse place to watch baseball than in the RF bleachers of Yankee stadium. Those guys are the dregs of humanity and proud of it. I don't know how many of them can afford to go to the game.

Take the Subway... there is a stop like 1 block from the stadium, a little bit longer of a walk than the walk from the EL at Wrigley.

Yankee fans aren't as bad as they're made out to be... they will hassle you if you're not wearing Yankees stuff but it's all in fun.

Yankee stadium is awesome, you're going to have a blast.

I disagree 100%.

Yankee Stadium is not the house that Ruth built. It's the field Ruth played on and the stadium that CBS gut renovated in the early 70's. It's quite possibly one of the most underwhelming baseball experiences I've ever had. Next to seeing a Mariners game at the old Kingdome, a Yankees game is about the least fun I've ever had at a ballgame.

Well, when I went it was against the Cubs so maybe I have a jaded view.

Maybe a Yanks/Red Sox game is a good time. But even a barn-burner matchup couldn't make up for how unimpressive the stadium is.

I went at the end of July and I enjoyed the park, I went with my dad and brother who are both Yankee fans, the last time my dad had been there was before the renovations, and it was the first time my brother and I had been there. We got to the stadium at around noon for a 7:05 start and there were already quite a few people around the stadium. All 3 of us wanted to check out Monument Park so with that being a high target on our list we got in line at 2:30, gates didn't open until 5, but it was worth the wait. We were one of the first people in so we weren't rushed through, we got to watch about 5 minutes of BP from behind the wall. So the moral of the story is get there super early if you want to go to Monument Park, and Gate 2 is the entrance you want, which has a nice view of the new Yankee Stadium also.

Also.... a word to the wise...

During batting practice, don't get hit by a foul ball. If you do, they will just give to a hot girl with big boobs even if your wrist is swollen to 3x it's normal size.

That's what I'd do... 8-[

Me too... but I deserved the ball, dammit.

Couldn't agree more. They have this guy out there in right that is scarily similar to woo-woo, except his whole gimmick is to just randomly get up and scream at opposing fans about how many world series they have. I stupily tried to talk smack back to him and the entire section yankee fans were personally offended and wanted to hurt me. Off course the Cubs got swept that series so I really had no room to talk.

I had a good time. We took the Subway from Times Square to Yankee Stadium....the only thing I'll say about the Subway is that while it is convenient, it sure is hot down there! Good thing I'm not claustrophobic either, lol.

They had closed the line to Monument Park right as we arrived....oh well.

The stadium itself....sure it is kind of dumpy but I enjoyed my seats. We were sitting in the very top row of the stadium behind home plate and for being that high, the view of the game was pretty good. Plus those seats allowed us to be shielded from the light rain that was falling at the time. \:D/

$9.50 for a "giant" Miller Lite.....lol. Of course everything ended up being expensive in New York but I was prepared for that. Good times all around, I look forward to visiting NY again in the future.
