Jason Marquis ERA+: 96

Sean Marshall's ERA+: 109

Those don't mean much since one is a starter and the other is a reliever. Marshall is used mostly when he has the matchup advantage, so you'd expect his ERA+ to be fairly good.

Except if he was bad he wouldn't have that good of a nuber since he has started several games and wouldn't still be in the bigs if he hadn't done pretty darn well. Not to mention the 3 IP and 1 run he gave up in Harden's last start.

At least Marquis is keeping us in this game. Hopefully our offense gets it going. I was afraid of a emotional let down.

I have a quite confidence about this game. I fully expect a late big inning from the Cubs and we'll win this game something like 4-2, 5-2.

Gotta love all the people hating on Soto...unreal.

I was hating on his aprroach that inning, not him.

Attack the at bat, not the batter. -NSBB board rules

If Marquis can give us one more shutout inning, you really can't ask for much more from him. Not bad outside of the 2nd.

Pitt's going to score a couple more.

Do people really need to be able to justify a bad performance so badly that they need to label it somehow? I just don't get why people have such a hard time accepting that a lot of things in life (and baseball) have to do with luck/variance. If the best team doesn't win, there doesn't have to be a "reason" for it. It just happens.

If the Cubs lose today, it's because they didn't score more runs than the Pirates. It has nothing to do with a "letdown."

Why do all of our freaking hits/baserunners seem to come with two outs...

Oh well, at least Soriano can take one deep.

Yeah.... I don't think it's happening today, boys.

Seriously?

The game is over in the 6th inning?

You would think that, with the way the Cubs have played this year, people wouldn't react this way still... :-s

A streaky offense is not a recipe for success in October. We really need to start getting some consistency.

You mean like we're consistently good in the games we win and consistently bad in the games we lose?
