This has been a very "easy" 118 pitches. He hasn't had a high stress inning and if we can have freash arms in the pen the last 2 games, let him finish the damn thing.

I don't want him to finish it, but I know Z will insist that he gets to. That's why I love Z.

That being said, I wish NSBB, would realize not ALL pitchers have the same requirements for pitch counts.

As Kasper just cited, Sheehan indicated that older pitchers can tolerate higher counts. Plus as I repeat AD NAUSEUM, it's higher stress innings, that REALLY influence Pitcher Abuse.

And since it's a 1-0 game, it makes sense to risk his arm with the extra pitches and pitchers on the bench who haven't pitched in a few days

All I'm saying is that Z is a huge competitor, a horse, and he's older and not prone to the real damage that happens with young pitchers ala Prior and Wood (in high school).

He's been coasting, he's out now. It's fine. Lou is being careful with Harden for good reason, Z is fine.

I think fans put WAY too much emphasis on pitch counts without taking other factors into count (age, high stress innings)

there's simply no upside, and a non-trival downside. It's a dumb move.

Alright guys. Let's not have a debate about who has more baseball knowledge than whom. This isn't the 3rd grade. Keep it civil and enjoy the game.

Exactly. Everyone knows I have the most knowledge anyways. :-"

Why is Marmol picking his face every time they show him in the pen?

mucus helps avoid blisters.

Maybe Moises Alou shared some secrets with him?

Yeah, save Jeff for tomorrow. He probably isn't going to be able to do back-to-backs yet. So, you just lost one of your top 3 relievers for tomorrow. Throw Eyre in the game.

Until he starts talking about the weather. Dude couldn't forecast his way out of a wet paper bag

... and New England."

We can talk about high stress innings and pitchers age until the Cows come home, but when Lou decides to go to the pen why is he going to a guy who has thrown 4 innings in the last 3 games? Why even carry a full bullpen when Lou only uses three of them? Why not just load the roster with bats and carry a 3 man bullpen.

Kerry needs to learn. This is why you can't skip meetings.

Has ELCABALLO45 weighed in on the game yet?

Ben Sheets gave away the game by giving up hits and walks.

If only the Brewers had converted every single offensive opportunity, had a gold glove OF in left, and the Cubs swung at those pitches outside the strikezone, the outcome of the game would have been different. The Brewers really beat themselves tonight.

If I was 7"11' I could play basketball.

They had 1 offensive opportunity. No extra base hits.

Braun really only played that 1 ball wrong, and it still woulda been a hit had he let it drop in front of him.

The Cubs being patient at the plate is not reflective of the Brewers beating themselves either.

Z wasn't trouble at all after the second inning, and threw his last inning entirely from the windup. His outing isn't that big a deal.

On the other hand, Samardzija pitching this inning is stupid.

Why? Maybe Lou will actually only pitch him every other day for a while.

Yeah, save Jeff for tomorrow.

I'm guessing Lou wanted to pitch him today, then avoid using him tomorrow, in order to have him ready for Harden's start.

Why would you guess that? You have no more reason to guess that than I do to guess that all other pitchers in the pen have sore shoulders. If anything, Marshall has been the one piggybacking Harden.

Because Lou is going to use him tommorrow too.
