Alright guys. Let's not have a debate about who has more baseball knowledge than whom. This isn't the 3rd grade. Keep it civil and enjoy the game.

Len and Bob basically saying what I'm saying about pitch counts. Thanks, guys.

Dude, those guys work for the Cubs.

Sheehan doesn't. Z is not a 18 year old pitcher, he's a horse. Don't worry, Lou will take him out but this pitch count crap is getting ridiculous. It's not like he has thrown 160 pitches.

You're not getting it.

118 pitches in a 1-0 game is one thing. But the Cubs were up 6-0 going into the eighth inning which is why it was unnecessary to throw him out there for the eighth. Had it been 1-0, that would have been okay considering Z was pitching well. But it wasn't a close game which is why it wasn't smart to throw Z out there.

Exactly. There is just NO reason to leave him in. There is nothing to gain and everything to lose.

this HAS to be dusty baker.

No, I just probably know a lot more about Baseball then you. But carry on with those weak jokes.

While I agree that pitch counts are overrated, you should really leave the "I know more than you do about baseball" junk out of it. It makes you sound extraordinarily immature, and Truffle is a well-respected, knowledgeable poster.

Until he starts talking about the weather. Dude couldn't forecast his way out of a wet paper bag

Bottom line of argument against Z pitching more: Why risk it?

Yes, this... Even assuming there's no special danger in sending Z out for the 8th, that's not a reason to do it either.

Who cares about 160 pitches, this pitch count crap is absurd.

stupid bullpen managing, unless Lou/Hendry want to get as many looks at shark as possible before the deadline to figure out if they should go hard after a reliever.

While I agree that it should be Eyre or Howry, at least it isn't Marmol.

This is Shark's road debut, maybe Lou just wants to bring him in a low hostility situation to give him some confidence? Again, if this inning means he can't go tomorrow, it's a really dumb move.

I hope we kick the Sheets out of Milwaukee tonight.

Let's make that margin 3.0, Cubbies!! :beg:

Sure as heck don't wanna jinx it, but (so far) my prayers have been answered!!

Why is Marmol picking his face every time they show him in the pen?

mucus helps avoid blisters.

That's a good point. This is also a good line up and it would be nice to see him get some confidence against it. And he just k'd Prince.

i think that's probably it... this is a chance to get more of a look at samardzija in a low-pressure situation against some good hitters. it's not the worst decision in the world, as long as lou doesn't start throwing him in there 2 out of every 3 games.

Has ELCABALLO45 weighed in on the game yet?

Ben Sheets gave away the game by giving up hits and walks.

If only the Brewers had converted every single offensive opportunity, had a gold glove OF in left, and the Cubs swung at those pitches outside the strikezone, the outcome of the game would have been different. The Brewers really beat themselves tonight.
