He was wearing a Brewers uniform.

But really, nothing.

Z throws a complete game shutout on 84 pitches, but it's not a perfect game because strike three to end the sixth inning blows out the webbing in Soto's glove, bounces off the umpire's shin guard, and kicks toward the dugout allowing the batter to reach. He also goes 3-4 with 2 HR and 4 RBI in a 5-0 victory. The other RBI, of course, goes to Theriot, who sends one rolling down the slide. He then returns to the dugout and says something sarcastic about sneaky power to Fontenot, then gives him a noogie. Then he comes back out to tip his cap to the hoards of Cubs fans at Miller demanding a curtain call.

In the 6th inning?

Cub fans have done it before. Remember when Soriano was on one of his red hot streaks against Pittsburgh?

I can't wait till Brawn gets drilled by someone this year. Will tonight be the night? I won't be suprised if the Cards do it.

Did he really do a curtain call on a game tying HR in the 6th inning?

what?

i was outside during that moment, if true, thank god i wasn't watching

Wait. A guy isn't allowed to do a curtain call on game tying HR in the 6th inning? I don't recall that happening, but considering the roll he's been on, I could easily see Cubs fans calling for a similar player to do a curtain call.

I am mostly talking about him having the slowest walk to 1st base in baseball after his 3 second pose. The one against the Cards was worse than against the Cubs. If he does that against Zambrano he will take notice.

Soriano not only took a slow walk on his HR in the third, but he did it on the double in the first inning and almost didn't make it to second. This really isn't a big deal.

And if that happens, we can expect Soriano to get one in the ribs and then a nice baseball brawl.

In that case, we should call up Castillo.

There's no point in that, he'd probably miss the Brewer he was throwing at and hit a Cub instead.

Chad Gaudin for new RH setup guy anybody else with me?

Um, yes. I know everyone was impressed with Samardzija this weekend, but Gaudin has been lights out since coming to the Cubs. His stuff just looked nasty last night.

Nope, I don't. If he did it was stupid.

Curtain call in the 6th on a HR that didn't even give you the lead? That's dumb.

Had he at least gotten a hit in that game prior to the HR?

I cant believe there are Cub fans complaining about somebody showing off a little after hitting a HR when we have Soriano and Aram on this team.

seriously, and carlos zambrano is one of our pitchers. every team has at least one or two players who showboat; get over it.

No kidding. I'm tired of fans and players and managers who get all pissy when a hitter does the most impressive thing in all of baseball and basks in it.

I wish they'd go back to the old days where if you showboat after a homerun, you get earholed next time up. It's ridiculous how much the hitters get away with nowadays.

So why cant a hitter pose after ahome run, but a pitcher can jump up and down and do a happy dance or do some stupid WWE pose after getting out of a jam?

Fielders can do the same after a big play, too. Guys in the dugout getting excited...but God forbid the batter does anything but drop the bat and trot around the bases.

Stupid.

I wanna see someone ride their bat down to 1st like a horse and then Moonwalk the rest of the way.

if the pitcher can do what valverde does, than a hitter should be able to showboat a little bit. if the pitchers can throw at a player who showboats, the batter should be allowed to throw his bat at the pitcher who celebrates a strikeout.

I wouldn't have minded if Braun showboated after his homer. It's the idea that a curtain call doesn't mean anything if you're still quite possibly going to lose.
