What exactly is wrong with taking a curtain call after a game tying HR by one of the most scalding hot hitters in baseball?

In the 6th inning?

Cub fans have done it before. Remember when Soriano was on one of his red hot streaks against Pittsburgh?

Had he at least gotten a hit in that game prior to the HR?

If he's referring to the game I'm thinking of... then the HR was in the 7th, and it was his 4th hit and 2nd HR of the game - totally different than the Braun thing.

Also, for someone who has bashed showboating before, I've basically accepted it. Aram, Soriano, Z, and Edmonds all do it on the Cubs. If they wanna show off, then so be it. There's probably a line and no one has really crossed it yet I don't think.

I cant believe there are Cub fans complaining about somebody showing off a little after hitting a HR when we have Soriano and Aram on this team.

seriously, and carlos zambrano is one of our pitchers. every team has at least one or two players who showboat; get over it.

I wouldn't have minded if Braun showboated after his homer. It's the idea that a curtain call doesn't mean anything if you're still quite possibly going to lose.

Are you kidding me? With all the curtain calls Cubs players have done in Wrigley, I have to imagine many of them occurred in games the Cubs lost, and I'd bet quite a few took place as early as the 6th inning.

This is a ridiculous complaint.

No kidding. I'm tired of fans and players and managers who get all pissy when a hitter does the most impressive thing in all of baseball and basks in it.

I wish they'd go back to the old days where if you showboat after a homerun, you get earholed next time up. It's ridiculous how much the hitters get away with nowadays.

This type of seniment is [expletive].

So why cant a hitter pose after ahome run, but a pitcher can jump up and down and do a happy dance or do some stupid WWE pose after getting out of a jam?

Fielders can do the same after a big play, too. Guys in the dugout getting excited...but God forbid the batter does anything but drop the bat and trot around the bases.

Stupid.

I wanna see someone ride their bat down to 1st like a horse and then Moonwalk the rest of the way.

Next time Fontenot homers, Zambrano should meet him at the plate and piggy back him around the bases.

I'm not kidding you. They didn't even move the fan chart very much with that one. Come on goony.

I mean what was the occasion for the curtain call? That's all I'm asking. I don't even care if they did a curtain call. I'm just wondering why you do one on a solo shot that didn't even change the lead. Why is that so controversial? Is Braun doing curtain calls on all his solo shots? I don't think so. If it's just that he hit a solo shot against his division rival, then that's bogus.

Whoa, look at all that hair. When was that?

Probably 2005, I believe that was Hardy's 1st year in the majors and I don't think Z has had that long of hair in a long time.

I know I'm late to the curtain call discussion, but the best part about it to me was that it didn't even seem like the fans were really asking for it. Some were still cheering, but nowhere near the level that you usually hear when a player gives them a curtain call.

If the Cubs win this one, I'm thinking sweep.

Just curious, are there usually AIM chats on every/most game, or just occasionally? Or does it depend on how many people are online?

I like it..But Fukudome REALLY needs to start hitting..This is the opening day rematch..Please play like you did that day, Kousuke

Some power is much needed, but he's been hitting well of late: .316/.480/.316/.796 and 6 BB/6 K in last 7.

If you take it back 9 games: .320/.452/.400/.852 with 6 BB/7 K (25 at bats).
