We beat him with Neifi, haha.

I think they are going to put the hurts on us this series. It is their World Series. That said, if we manage to win the series, it could really damage their psyche.

I'd like to at least wait until the actual games are played before declaring they own us, although obviously this will be a really tough series to win. I'm clinging to the fact that they're coming off losing 2/3 to the Stros -- please let there be hope that they are done with their hot streak.

Why would you say this is their World Series? This isn't some ballclub down in the standings that has nothing left to play for.

I just meant this is their chance to prove to the world how good they are. Which they are very good. They beat us 3 of 4 or sweep and people will really take notice.

The Cubs better get to CC or get him out of the game early (before the 8th inning) because Lilly is going to be horrific, esp. against this lineup.

Yea, Lilly is definitely causing me more concern in this game than CC is.

Please don't suck, Cobs.

illiniguy, don't jump off the ledge just yet. Cubs are 4-6 in their last 10 road games, but the Brewers are 4-6 in their last 10 home games.

I am pumped for this series.

When I saw that the word "EPIC" was a link in the original post, I was hoping to god it wasn't that awful Faith No More song. Unfortunately for all of us, it was.

that song is awesome dude!!

i, for one, totally dig the usage of faith no more

Yeah, sucks that Samardzija is probably not available tonight. And I'm not sure how much Gaudin could give the Cubs today. If Lilly struggles at all, the hook should be quick. Especially, since Zambrano figures to rest the pen tomorrow night. Can't fall down more than 2 to CC and the Brewers. Sean Marshall should be able to go a couple innings today, but after that it gets iffy in the pen. Even if Lilly gets thru 5 and Marshall 2, you are still looking at Howry/Eyre/Cotts for the 8th or a 2 IP save for Marmol. Lilly needs to go 6 or 7 with no more than 3 ERs for the Cubs to have a chance today.

Sabathia will walk his share of people, but I don't expect the Cubs to pound him. 2 or 3 runs in 6-7 IP is probably best case.

oh my goodness gracious...this is the big time...

i scared the crap out of a girlfriend of mine yesterday when i started screaming and pounding on the wall after edmonds made that catch yesterday to end the game...

i told her that she probably doesn't want to be around me for this series if she thought that was bad

I know Lilly hasn't really "stepped up" against tougher lineups this year, but in the past he has. Ted, please pitch this game like you're pitching against the Red Sox in say August 2004 :beg:

Eyre - well rested

Samardzija - Nope

Gaudin - Nope

Howry - well rested but who cares

Marmol - only good for an inning

Marshall - Probably still not available, in emergency can go 1 inning

Cotts - Good to go.

So assuming Lilly goes 6, it would probably be Cotts in the 7th, Howry in the 8th....and on the off chance Howry gets a few line drives directly at OFs, Marmol in the 9th. If he goes less than 6, then its looking like Eyre will finally get to pitch, but thats not a scenario that we really want.

i would have thought sweeping the cardinals would have done that, but maybe that wasn't enough.

no offense but the cardinals don't get very much respect around here. It looks like they might be falling back to earth. 3 out of 4 against us is way more impressive than sweeping the cardinals

A very valid point. I guess i was thinking more of the "ESPN crowd" when illiniguy said world.

I'm scared of Lilly getting lit up this game, but since June 1st, he's been pretty good.

5-2 3.41 ERA 1.28 WHIP 59 K in 63.1 IP (10 starts)

Of course over that same time frame...CC:

7-0 1.60 ERA 0.84 WHIP 72 K in 73 IP (9 starts)

Sabathia has also gone at least 8 IP in 7 of those 9 starts.

I can understand that, especially with the brewers righty dominated lineup, they tend to hit lefties very well.

That's why I said that. I saw our lefties (Marshall, Hill, Lilly) get lit up by the brewers too many times. Braun especially murders lefties and hes on a rampage right now.
