As of this moment, Gallardo, (Free Agency signing/trade), Parra, Capuano(he looks to have a handhshake deal in place for next year), Suppan/Villanueva. I expect either a Hardy trade(to make room for Escobar) or to sign a decent #2 in the offseason to fill the hole in the rotation. Hard to tell this early. Maybe bring another kid up and have him try at the #5.

Yes, it would be stupid to purposefully curtail your drinking (ie, fun). Well, if you can't control your bladder, maybe you should(or if you drink so much while at a game where you fill your bladder, you obviously have had way too much anyways). If you wanna get really drunk and watch a game on the side, i'd recommend going to a bar. The drinks would be cheaper. I guess i'm old fashioned in the way that if you are going to a baseball game, you should probably pay a bit of attention to it.

(For the original poster) Giordano's is good. There's a million good pizza joints in Chicago though. Aurelio's is great too. If you like super thin, D'Agostino's on Southport and Addison 3 blocks west of Wrigley is a nice one. Asking what some of the best restaurants in Chicago are is like asking who some of the better looking chicks in LA are. You can literally trip over about 5 or 6 great restaurants on every block between Wrigley and downtown. Inside Wrigley, go with the Calzone (a fancy name for a pizza puff) if you can find it. One of the stands on the third base line and the one in the upper deck close to home plate on the 3rd base side has em I think. It will probably stop your heart, but at least you'll die with a smile on your face. (For Bernie) The bathrooms are fine. Grow a pair. You're right, peeing in a trough without ice is totally fine and sanitary. My bad. :lol: Peeing in a trough is extremely effiicient and as sanitary as one can expect in a setting where thousands of people are chugging beer. Don't wear your Sunday finest or plan on eating in there. While efficient, i have seen alot better than that at just about every major league ballpark in america. Maybe people should drink less if that's actually gonna be a problem. Or develop better bladder control(i personally try never to leave my seat during a game, unless it's a blowout).

During spring training, Ned Yost(a former catcher himself) and the staff looked at his throwing motion and found something wrong with it. They corrected it very early on and it seems to have given him more strength on this throws.

I can understand that, especially with the brewers righty dominated lineup, they tend to hit lefties very well.

I'm clinging to the fact that they're coming off losing 2/3 to the Stros -- please let there be hope that they are done with their hot streak. Why would you say this is their World Series? This isn't some ballclub down in the standings that has nothing left to play for. I just meant this is their chance to prove to the world how good they are. Which they are very good. They beat us 3 of 4 or sweep and people will really take notice. i would have thought sweeping the cardinals would have done that, but maybe that wasn't enough. no offense but the cardinals don't get very much respect around here. It looks like they might be falling back to earth. 3 out of 4 against us is way more impressive than sweeping the cardinals A very valid point. I'll be there for Wednesday's game with my cubbie fiance, So that's atleast one. I expect there to be less cubs fans(from farther away) willing to make the trek simply because of the price of gas and everything right now. However if i had to put a percentage on it, probably 10-20%.

Well, i'm not from chicago, but i go there a decent bit, so i think i can add some ideas. As for food outside the stadium, you have to have chicago pizza atleast once. I suggest Giordanos myself. I love it. It's about a 45 min wait(depending on how many people are there), but it's worth it. I love Italian, and i'm sure others might be able to suggest something better, but i always try to go to Maggianos when i can. As for food within the stadium, i would stay away from just about everything. The hot dogs are ok, but all in all, Wrigley food is pretty bad. When you go to Wrigley, take it all in. Walk around the outside of the park before you go in, just take in the entire atmosphere. Enjoy yourself, however, if you can avoid it, don't go to the bathroom. It's not real pretty. As for stuff you should see, i guess that depends on the kind of stuff you are into. Chicago has just about everything you could really want. Museum of Science and industry, Natural History, Navy Pier(a little touristy for me, but it gives you a great view of the city), Chinatown is nice, Millennium Park is pretty, and on the north side of the Art institute IIRC. John Hancock Center, you can go on and on.

Something like that. I never get tired of hearing my cousin being upset, and surprised that either Hampton or Chipper is hurt. Is he/she also surprised when the sun rises every morning too?

That's my first reaction, they just took 2 of 3 from the Cubs, that means they have a chance. :good: The Astros have to rely on the 3 best teams in the NL to all collapse and collapse hard, and they themselves have to go on a nice little run. I think its pretty safe to say they're done. What are the odds that milwaukee, STL and Chicago all get hit with seperate metors before september? That's really the astros only shot. Even then, i bet the Pirates beat em out for the division.

I don't see what Yost had to do with Gallardo taking a wrong angle while covering first base and crashing into Reed Johnson. I guess you could argue that it was Ned's fault he kept him in the game after that, but the ACL was torn on the play at first, and once it's torn it can't be torn any worse. I'll say the Brewers are pretty lucky that Yo didn't hurt his arm while compensating for his knee, though. Is this actually true? If Yost pulls Gallardo out of the game after he gets hurt, I'm not sure he's out for the year. No way can you blame Yost for Gallardo. Yost should never have put him back but it was obvious the damage was done when he tried to avoid fatso. If anyone is to blame for losing Gallardo, it is Fielder. Actually, had Yo just ran parellel to the base at the end, he would have never had to jump over Johnson, thus avoiding all injury. To me, the blame lies completely on Yovanni for taking a bad route.

yea, he has a .759 OPS vs righties this year(.472 vs LHP). Definately a guy you want to stay away from. I also wouldn't go after burnett if i were hendry, simply because you already got Harden. Why add what is basically another Jason Marquis(burnett: 4.84 ERA, 1.448 WHIP, Marquis: 4.44 ERA, 1.430 WHIP)? I would think Rios and Ryan would cost a lot to get, but those are the only two i can think of who the cubs would be interested in.

Cuban if he wins the bid, would be a total fool to fire Jim Hendry. While he may not the the smartest GM around, he is certainly the one that keeps the players here, and has their respect and trust. Signing them to discounts, even when agents like Steve Boras and their own peers aren't happy about it. Cuban likes to get things done, and Hendry does that.....faster then most. The guy has done a pretty good job with trades and bringing in talent. My only complaint would be he doesn't have a "Top Notch" farm system, but you can blame that on the scouting director as much as the GM.

over a blister? yes Yea, i know wood has had a lot of arm issues, but this is just a blister. It's not a recurring injury or anything. Just let it heal and he will be fine.

Not sure about the arm strength, but supposedly Yost was the one who caught the problem with Kendall. I don't know if this was known or not, but I just heard it today. They found whatever was wrong with him during spring training IIRC. I read about it back then. Read my sig.
