And the 20 game losing streak is well underway. :banghead:

Yup.

That sound you hear is the bottom falling out.

Seriously? It's TWO games.

Two games that are continuing some very clear and worrisome trends.

I'll grant you Kosuke, but who else?

Ramirez is slumping, he'll be fine.

Lee has lost his power, but it's not a physical thing with his wrist because he was hitting for power earlier this year. I bet he'll bounce back, nothing ridiculous, but probably 12-15 HR in the second half.

Other than those three, what are the worrisome trends?

The very weak bench, the lack of general offense on the road. What you dismiss for Lee and Aramis have been going on for a month now (Lee's case) or for well over a month (in Aramis' case).

Hey Jim Rome, how many times have you been wrong on this prediction already this year?

I'm really concerned by these poor at bats on the road. They act like these games make no difference at all. I'm not referring to Ryan, or all of them per say, but I see so many at bats just tossed away. A-Ram is doing this a lot, D Lee some as well.

It's like they can't wait to get back into the dug out...or can't wait for the game to be over.

Hey perhaps they need to have the race to tighten up, to get their competitive juices flowing.

All I know is that games like tonight are very hard to watch. :banghead:

Like I said earlier in the thread, I believe a good explosion from Lou behind close doors is needed here. I know he was frustrated after yesterday's game, but to see you're offense consist of a homerun by your pitcher, Lou can't be happy right now. To me it looks like the Cubs are trying to stay afloat while Soriano continues to rehab. But tonight, I think Lou should have gone off on them in the clubhouse.

Lou only offered a short post game. He talked about the lack of road defense, that he didn't know why but it had to change. He was clearly pissed, and who could blame him. They were sleep walking through that game.

Z wasn't great, but Wandy is no Cy Young.

It's gotta be a mental thing. There is no way the same group of players can be so good at home while taking walks and such, and be so bad on the road and looking like a bunch of spastic 3rd Graders. It's gotta be all in their heads.

And if the pitchers have figured Kouske out, I certainly hope Gerald Perry is working with him daily to fix his swing, if in fact there are holes in it.

The big thing is the lack of production from the heart of the order. Theriot has been a solid leadoff hitter, but if only we could find a solid number 5 hitter, and find a way to keep Theriot in the 1 spot. Hmm...

Soriano will lead off when he comes back. Lou likes him at the top of the lineup, and he likes being there.

We all know that Soriano likes it there, and Lou likes him there. The question is, is it the best thing for the team. A good leadoff hitter should be a guy who takes walks and slaps singles. I know the whole cliche about the leadoff hiter may only leadoff in the first inning, but when you have a guy capable of what Soriano is, he should be at the plate with a few guys on.

I agree with you, and in a perfect world he'd be there. But, I'm sure there will be no shortage of people here soon trotting out Soriano's career stats when not batting leadoff, and they're not very good. It's a total mental thing with him. If he's not at the top of the order, he sucks.

Hearing different variations of "crap, we're screwed" every time the slightest thing goes wrong gets tiresome.
