ST. LOUIS -- The All-Star teams have been selected and will be announced at 1 p.m., and major league sources say that the Cubs are very well represented.

Aside from starters Geovany Soto, Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome, pitchers Ryan Dempster, Kerry Wood and Carlos Zambrano are also expected to be named to the team.

Ramirez sans his slump and Theriot could also be seen as deserving. Can you imagine having 8 guys on the team?

Also, I have a bad feeling Dempster's gonna struggle if he's used.

Ramirez will get in if Chipper opts out, which has a decent likelihood of happening. I bet you see Marmol on the last man fan vote, they put several non-closers on that ballot last year.

Why would chipper opt out? Injury?

Yeah, he's been in and out of the lineup for like a month.

Wow, 7 All Stars? When's the last time the Cubs had that many?

Also, I think it's more than any other NL team... is it the most of any team in baseball?

Looks like it, the Red Sox only got 6.

EDIT: I may have lied, they haven't done AL Relievers yet.

With Youklis, Kinsler, and Braun we have a record 2.5 Jews representing.

And what happened to Griffey? I take it the CUbs fans and Brewer fans went vote crazy for Fuku and Braun and trumped the Reds fans who were to depressed about their awful team to care.

ryan ludwick on the all star team pisses me off to no end

Not quite as bad as Jason Varitek and his .217 average being named to the team.

I don't think it's Ludwick's numbers that Truffle has a problem with. The idea that Ludwick is even an ASG caliber player...that's different.

It wasn't even Francona getting his guy on the team, it was the dopey players. Pierzynski probably deserved it, but they all hate him so he wasn't getting their vote. Odd that Pudge wouldn't have got it though, if you're going with reputation for being good.
