I'd love to think that if we acquire a new starter, he'd be there to replace Marquis and not Gallagher... but I think that's probably not the case.

 

that'd be a very poor move. their ERAs may be similar, but gallagher's peripherals offer much more promise than marquis.

i don't mind them taking a flier on marquis to see if he can get his good sinking fastball back, but i refuse to believe that there was the market demand to give a 3-year contract to an average (at best) pitcher coming off a horrendous year. much like the blanco contract, jim made a bid that was completely unnecessary to secure the player's services.

I think Lou has done more than consider it. On the plus side, the ERA is starting to more accurately show the quality of his pitching.
