BOOOOOOOOOOO

when every outing involves hanging by a thread, eventually the thread is gonna break.

yeah, to illustrate some of the deficiencies of ERA and ERA+, he's been better or equal to last season so far (101 ops+), 4.43 ERA, but with a whip of 1.47, his era was bound to take a tumble eventually

not only that, his K-rate is down to 4.57 per 9 innings, and he's walking guys at basically the same rate as last year. his LD% is 21%, which is his worst figure since 2003, so he's actually been a little lucky on balls in play. he's giving up ground balls and fly balls at similar rates to last year, but the HR/FB rate against him is about 50% of what it normally is. the ERA might be ok, but all the peripherals are bad, and basically every sign points to him getting worse.

Jeeze. This guy sucks pretty bad.

He's their top pitching prospect and was one of the top pitching prospects in all the minors. Granted his status has fallen a lot.

He's got good stuff, but has absolutely no consistency.

I'd love to think that if we acquire a new starter, he'd be there to replace Marquis and not Gallagher... but I think that's probably not the case.

Why couldn't we have stopped the bleeding at 3, why does it have to be 5? Five seems so much more insurmountable, especially when our players are just...ugh doing so many wrong things.

If the Cubs have any illusions about winning this game, they need to pull Marquis now.

They could do something useful like...scoring against a terrible pitcher.

Jesus the bleeding just will not stop

Marquis is intent on pitching us completely out of the game

I think he's already done that.

that'd be a very poor move. their ERAs may be similar, but gallagher's peripherals offer much more promise than marquis.

Yes, but Hendry signed Marquis and we are going to use him for all three years.
