Trash talking is good and is what rivalries are built and sustained on. A player/manager trash talking fuels it big time. However, the stuff Williams and Ozzie say are cheap low blows that have nothing to do with the game. Like Ozzie's body double comment about Lou. Where does that come from and what the hell does it have to do with baseball???? No where and nothing is the answer. I don't mind what Danks said. I didn't like playing at any of my rivals places when I was in high school. Does he need to go to the paper to say it? No but I'm sure many Cubs fans hate playing in the Cell because no one shows up to watch. It's the Ozzie and Williams comments that are stupid and out of line.

And I would guarantee Barrett said stuff about the Sox plenty of times and I would be surprised if Zambrano never said anything but I can't recall specifics. I do remember a couple years ago a player saying the Cell stinks because no one shows up to watch the games but can't remember who said it (may have actually been Baker).

Today's start was the first time Danks ever played at Wrigley. Glad he has so much experience in what he's talking about.

He was here for the series from May 18-20 last year, his spot in the rotation just didn't come up. He's still a jackass though.

I think it was more of a reference to the last time a white sox pitcher tried calling out the cubs (and greg maddux) and maddux replied with "Who's Mark Burhle?"

I actually liked Burhle until he criticized one of this generation's best pitchers and an all around class act. Hey, maybe you should make it back to 500 before being critical of HOFs...

In general, the Sox are a bunch of hot-headed mouths who are insecure with their standing in this town. They all deserve each other.

his constant complaining about the other team stealing signs piss you off? He's the Orlando Cabrara of pitching. Wait a tic they're on the same team hmm imagine that.

He should've gotten the W today, fortunately for us the Dotel Hotel was open for business!

What did Ozzie and Kenny say about the Cubs? I must have missed those quotes.

Read the Mariotti article on the first page.

First question that came to my mind ... body double for what?

Come on. How unfortunate is Williams' timing? We're experiencing a precious slice of local history here, the amazing blur of both local baseball teams charging toward October, and the GM is picking petty fights. As for his pained feelings about ever working for the Cubs, Williams might want to know that his crosstown counterpart, classy Jim Hendry, made arrangements Thursday for Guillen's family to have a suite at Wrigley Field. This after the Blizzard of Oz has called Wrigley "the worst field in baseball," complained about having to park his car one year at the Clark Street McDonald's and said "there's 20,000 rats running around." Paralyzed like everyone else in Cubdom by Carlos Zambrano and his impending MRI results, Hendry has many more important issues on his plate than Guillen's mood. "I hope it’s not serious," manager Lou Piniella said Thursday night in St. Petersburg, where the Cubs were playing the Rays. "I hope we find out what’s wrong and we can take care of it in short order."

This is the part of the article that I love from Mariotti. It really shows where the two franchise are at, mentally. Jim Hendry and the Cubs are refusing to play the gutter-trash-talking that the White Sox are trying to pull. The White Sox wonder why they are the "other" Chicago team in the city? Just have them read Jay's column.

White Sox are so bitter, so jaded, it's just sad. I think Reinsdorf really needs to consider moving the White Sox out of Chicago, seeing as the WS will never be "the team" in Chicago.

As for Kenny Williams: he's not good enough to work for the Cubs. And the Cubs would never be desparate enough to hire Williams.

As for Ozzie Guillen: Only the White Sox would hire this bum. The sooner he gets fired from the White Sox, the sooner he leaves everybody collective minds.

And I resent the White Sox trying to make a name for themselves, at the expense of the Cubs.

Mariotti is a complete hack, but it's always an amusing read when he and the Sox rip each other.

I posted this in the Edmonds thread, but Ozzie was pretty dismissive of Ol' Jimmy.

He just had a good day. I'm not going to promote the guy who is hitting .218 (actually .238), " White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said of Edmonds.

"I'd rather have him out there than (injured Alfonso) Soriano. He's a veteran player and he knows what he's doing ... Hopefully he doesn't have another game like that against us. Jim doesn't scare me. I'll pitch to him anytime."

It's fun to see Sox management and the fanbase spiral out of control - a sweep tomorrow night should keep us entertained for the remainder of the week.

While the White Sox continue to talk and make fools of themselves off the field (Guillen was talking shots at Edmonds today after the game), the Cubs do the talking where they should, on the field.

Nuff said.

comcast showed danks with a clothespin on his nose during its highlights of today's game.

Hopefully he was wearing it in the bottom of the 4th. The foul smell at Wrigley today was from Contreras crapping himself on the mound while Guillen sat in the dugout watching him get destroyed and the game slipping away.

Yeah Ozzie, we get it, you aren't impressed with Edmonds. Big deal, he only hit two solo HR's against you. On the other hand, how do you feel about ARam, who you again let beat you today. The 3 run homer was the dagger of the game and you gave it to him on a silver platter by letting him hit against a pitcher that was being rocked and clearly was out of gas.

Seems to me that the Sox spend a lot of time complaining about things out of their control like the ballpark they are playing in, umpires, etc.

If everyone could ignore them and the media outlets that feed off that behavior, they'd go away.

I wouldn't mind both being contracted. But how about send one of them to Sacremento, and the other to Oregon?

I'm not so sure about that. I think if everyone ignored them, they'd just get louder and more offensive until people noticed them. It's like a 4 year old throwing a tantrum, although I'm pretty sure the 4 year old would do it with far more class.
