That weightlifter had my favorite reaction to winning.

Also, do people really like interviews with people emotionally destroyed by blowing an Olympic medal in the past 10 minutes? That's appalling. And then they chased that hurdler down inside to film her crying last night. I'm a misanthrope, but this leaves me slightly incredulous.

I long for the day when athletes are never interviewed

They interviewed the US runner last night that finished 2nd to Usain Bolt but was DQ'd, and he came off like a jerk, but considering he'd just found out that he was DQ'd and was not getting a silver medal, that's understandable. My wife and I were both pretty ticked that they'd interview him right then. Terrible.

When did you find out?

Just now.

What are you going to do?

Protest.

You are going to protest?

Yeah, why not?

I don't think he came across as a jerk. I think he came across as a guy who was coming to grips with losing a race.

That interviewer was a total douche. Come on, the guy JUST found out he was going to be stripped of an Olympic medal... what do you expect? I'd protest it if I didn't feel like I stepped on the line (he obviously did, but it's hard to know when you're running.)

I'm more bothered by the fact that they build up a storyline for every event and won't waver from it regardless of the results. Perfect example: the Women's 100m Hurdles. All the pre-race focus was on LoLo what's her name, but she hit the last hurdle and lost the race. Instead of interviewing the OTHER American who actually won the race, they go straight to LoLo first. After a commercial break they finally got around to interviewing the woman who won.

Our hackers deserve a gold medal.

A determined U.S. computer expert has delved into cached pages on the Internet to unearth Chinese official documents showing a gymnast who took gold in the uneven bars competition, edging the U.S.'s Nastia Liukin, may indeed be underage

The latest unofficial investigation was carried out by computer security expert for the Intrepidus Group, whose site, Stryde Hax, revealed a detailed forensic search for He’s age.

First he simply tried Google, only to find that an official listing by the Chinese sports administration that had given her age could no longer be accessed. Then he tried the Google cache, only to find that He’s name had been removed.

Finally, he tried the cache of Chinese search engine Baidu. There, he found that Baidu lists two spreadsheets in He's name, both giving her date of birth as January 1, 1994 — making her 14 years and 220 days old and too young to compete at the Beijing games.

The lists were compiled by the General Administration of Sport of China.

Liukin, who finished second to He in the uneven bars final would be elevated to the gold medal position should He be disqualified. Britain's Beth Twiddle, who finished in fourth place, would be elevated to the bronze.

women win gold in soccer and it was a heck of a 30 min. overtime.

But now that they won three in a row and are dominant do they eliminate it from the Olympics like softball?

Doubt it, the number of countries that have soccer programs vs softball is way to big.

I agree, I genuinely felt bad for the guy

that girl's name makes the whole article confusing.

The women's soccer team had absolutely no business winning, but that was a very exciting match.

that was the unluckiest match that i've ever seen. especially the last 10 minutes, the us girls were just walking around while brazil was bombarding the keeper. i'm not saying that they didn't try, they did for most of the game, but they got extremely lucky. they were outplayed in every facet, they weren't as skilled and they obviously weren't as fit.

God must be pissed at the brazilians for only having first names or something.

Gotta agree about the whole interviewing someone right after they lost/were DQed. It's ridiculous, I don't want to see it.

I don't even want to see it when they win and are winded. it adds nothing of value to the telecast

the first 90 min. is the reason soccer won't take off in the US. the last ten minutes was great and is exactly any coach would have played the game with the existing rules.

They need to get rid of the off sides whistle to make it a bit more interesting.

I'm pretty positive that no soccer fan here (or elsewhere) would agree that getting rid of offsides is a good idea

but if you are going to sell this game to anybody in the US you need to induce some type of excitement in scoring. Why else do you think they get rowdy at Euro games they are bored to death and drunk.

Though that is just the opinion of 299 million Americans
