wow we're still talking about eric gordon. i thought i stepped into a time capsule for a minute there.

To be fair, this is kinda a big deal. I mean he is really throwing Kelvin under the bs here. I know coach wanted them to stop doing drugs, but not if it meant us not winning games. Also am I the only one who thinks this is more than just pot? I doubt very much that Eric would have thought pot was such a big deal.

Something tells me we're not talking about the same Kelvin Sampson that kicked off Jabahri Brown for getting arrested for weed possession during his OU days...

Once at IU he had to win at all costs, hence the problems seeping out.

The plot thickens with Ole Miss' head coach assaulting a cab driver in Cincinnati. This is a statement from Kennedy's brother and the story that the University is going with.

http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/section?category=PluckPersona&U=5b4ec637f7b54961a37c5c1ac670829d&plckController=PersonaBlog&plckScript=personaScript&plckElementId=personaDest&plckPersonaPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog:5b4ec637f7b54961a37c5c1ac670829dPost:b1e21035-dab5-413c-9502-afab0f50bf2f&sid=sitelife.clarionledger.com

The team had its normal team meeting at about 11 p.m. and then the coaches went out for a late-night dinner with some friends that Andy had when he was in Cincinnati. After they were done, they were leaving dinner and hailed a taxi. The taxi driver pulled up and the coaches (Kennedy, Bill Armstrong, Michael White, Owen Miller and Torrey Ward) piled into the car. Kennedy was in the front. The cab driver decides that he won't take all five guys, he'll only take four, and he started calling coach Ward (who is black) the 'N' word, so Kennedy says they'll get another cab.

The cab hadn't moved, but the driver demanded that six dollars be paid. At this point, Kennedy got out of the cab and went to another cab directly behind them and asked the second driver if he would take five people. That cab driver said yes. But when the coaches tried to get out of the first cab, the cab driver locked the back doors and drove about 100 feet with the four assistants in the back. Kennedy was standing on the curb. Apparently, some words were said in the cab and the cops were called. When the police showed up, the cab driver said Kennedy punched him and called him racial slurs. So the cops, who Andy said were nice, but had to do their jobs, put him in handcuffs and put him into the squad car. At that point, Armstrong started saying stuff like this is bull s--- and he ended up getting arrested as well. But Andy never touched the cab driver or called him any names. They spent six hours in jail for this.

I remember a lot of rumors of coke use with Ellis and that crew last year.

Coke has made a big return the last few years with college kids.

no, but i'm assuming abrams snagged the schollie and randle will now be going to ku. just a hunch.

I thought we still wanted him. Go for the 2 pg thing again. I know the main priorities are Shaw and Blackshear, but then we still have what 2 more rides.

Yep 4 remaining for 2011, 5 total through 2012(assuming Simpson redshirts this year). I'd be pretty surprised if they don't over-recruit by at least one for 2012 with Richmond or Head possibly being 2 and done, or one of the trio for next year being gone for one reason or another.

And how giddy is Stan Simpson that he's gonna get to be on that team(and probably play a pretty important role) in '11-'12

i don't think we'll stay hot on randle after this. we'll want scorers like brad beal and blackshear. ideally, we get shaw, thompson, blackshear (now, who knows?), and beal. i would be exetremely happy with that, extremely happy. like, overjoyed.

that's a fab 5, although i don't think that thompson and shaw would be too happy playing the post. there doesn't necessairly have to be a big man. that team would run over the face of the earth.

I was talking with my buddy about this. He gave me the whole Abrams is so far away, what if KU(he's a jayhawk fan) wants him? I told him sure it could happen, but I doubt it with the studs all around him. He then tells me Self had better recruiting success while at UI. I think he might want to check his history books. Sine we got Howard we have easily had the best run of recruiting I can remember. Granted I was pretty young when Kendall, Nick and the boys were committing. Even then wasn't Gill very underrated and ready to go to Northwestern until we offered?

self didn't recruit for illinois very well when he was there. however, he did a great job recruiting for ku when he was on the payroll of the university of illinois.

I would go with cocaine. West Lafayette High School is the rich boy (I'm not but went there) drug dealer school. Let me put it this way. The drug dealers at my high school sold to the Purdue drug dealers. I never did any illegal drugs but having a social life at West Side meant I was around it every party I went to. Cocaine was around sometimes but mostly very high quality pot. Everything changed after one year in college. I came back for visits during college and all of sudden cocaine was at almost every party. One of my friends from high school used to be the big drug dealer and he told me one time that cocaine had gotten really big in Bloomington.

I still kind of look back and laugh that my high school was drug center but yet we were named a top 100 public high school in the country about 8 years ago and we are the top high school in the state grades, SAT's, and number of Ivy Leaguers. Just amazes me. My class had 17 valedictorians. 17 people who had perfect grades all through high school. Most of them went Ivy League. This is in a class of 117 mind you. Yet we are the drug dealers for northern Indiana.

No way he's referring to just pot.

You wouldn't think so. But I've known more than a few young athletes who were completely overwhelmed when they realized some teammates smoked pot.

I'd almost bet my life that Jamarcus Ellis smoked weed at halftime of most games.

Hey. I'm not paying attention to college hoops as much as I would if my team stood to be seriously competitive this year (also if they were on TV more), but I just wanted to give a quick shout to the Courtney Fortson, who has been tremendous through 8 games for the Razorbacks. 16.5 points, 6.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds for the 5-11 freshman point guard. Excellent. Junior Michael Washington is looking great now that he's starting. averaging 16 and 11 so far. Nice to see what he can do getting real PT now that every other big man who got playing time last year is gone. Freshman Rotnei Clarke was brought in to be a sharpshooter, and that's exactly what he's been. 14 points per game, mostly from shooting 46% from 3-point range. Redshirt freshman Michael Sanchez has a couple of double-doubles and is averaging 8 and 7 so far. There are no seniors on this team.

On the downside, the Hogs suspended Muntrell McDonald, a JC transfer who figured to be an impact player for a really young team. On the...upside? He's going to be replaced by...Marcus Monk.

Couple people on the Illinois Scout board are insinuating there's at least one more to come soon.

Please be Mike Shaw. Or Blackshear.

no way that it's blackshear, he's at least going to give self the chance to drive a dump truck full of money up to his house.

i would guess shaw. if shaw commits soon, our chances with blackshear will go up significantly.
