Daniel Hackett is a douche. No wonder OJ Mayo punched him.

UCLA is now 3-0 at the Galen Center. :)

Pomeroy has his team pages updated now with pretty much all the information you need on one page. It's a great time waster.

That is a lot of information.

Speaking specifically of Illinois, it's amazing how good they've been despite almost never getting to the FT line.

Boilers really need this game against Wisconsin today. Hope they start winning some games in the Big Ten to help Illinois out. Boiler up for the next two hours.

Purdue finally starting hitting their shots yesterday. Hummel played well and appears to have shaken off his injuries. Johnson is off to a nice start, averaging 14.4 points, 9 boards, and 1.7 blocks per games through the first three conference games. He didn't look great in the Penn State game, but he put up double-doubles in the other two.

For the other Purdue fans here, am I the only one that gets nervous every time Marcus Green gets the ball on offense? I mean, I like his intensity on defense and his ability to get rebounds against guys much taller than him, but I cringe everytime he shoots the ball. Thankfully, he somehow managed to hit a couple threes yesterday (after airballing his first attempt).

Huge win for Purdue...There was no way we could go into conference play 0-3 and losing two at home already. Hummel probably had his best game of the year and looks fully healthy as well. The other good thing is Kramer only played 20min so he looks like he could improve even more and showed no signs of the injury.

They never really have under Weber. They have the #s dating back to '05, and that team didn't even do it.

Ha first we posted about Purdue's game at literally the same time and secondly a little bit, but when you have a 3 on 1 and he's wide open and were up by 8 not really, but with anyone in his face yet please pass it away Marcus

His "major contributors, significant contributors, role players, limited roles" categories are going to either need a larger sample to be accurate or some fine-tuning.

As far as Iowa, yes we are a bad team right now. I'm much less optimistic than I was a week ago but I'll wait to see if they continue to regress before completely changing my outlook. Hopefully the week off will allow them to get it together. Yesterday was hideous.

Yeah, I was hoping there'd be an explanation on the main page explaining those, but there was none. He doesn't really measure individual defense, so those rankings seem to be offensive based only with in the very least a large slant towards scoring. The titles are more just fun to see so you can make fun of Chris Kramer being ranked "nearly invisible"

The new information is really interesting and exciting. However, it definitely needs some fine-tuning, I think. Any player ranking system that has Malik Story and Verdell Jones III ahead of Nick Williams based on this season has some flaws.

ETA: That probably won't sound egregious for non-IU fans, I know. I'm assuming there are better examples nation-wide; but, from a micro perspective, Williams has clearly been superior.

Green is really just raw athlete. He's got zero touch!

He nailed Tijan Jobe though.

He's got Calasan ahead of Johnson and Hummel for Purdue...

LOL I love Calasan but Hummel and Johnson are clearly better.

After looking around a little bit, they seem to basically be completely based on usage rate. The problem is they don't put any weight on % of minutes or any other factors. Thus Matt Gatens is a role player (2nd most minutes, highest offensive rating) and Fuller who was practically out of the rotation and has only played 37% of the minutes is a major contributor.

So basically if you had a guy that gets 7 minutes a game but chucks up a bunch of shots in those minutes and has a lot of turnovers, he would ranked "major contributor".

Posted

Miles Plumlee as a significant contributor, yet Elliot Williams, Lance Thomas, and Greg Paulus range from role players to limited roles?

I guess I understand Williams since it doesnt include defense?
