Some Purdue/Illinois smack talk going on... nice. Boiler Up! Too bad I'm not going to be able to watch the game as I'll be driving to my parents place. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to catch the AM broadcast.

I'm not sure smack talk is the right term for it when one side is throwing out poorly researched, incorrect statements, and the other side is simply correcting them repeatedly.

You have been correcting statements I've said, but there irrelevant to Purdue losing at home....Yeah I might not have done a good job supporting my case and looking up the stats, but you've came up with absolutely no information that actually proves anything against Purdue winning at home except that they lost to one of the best teams in the country and played horrible.

You missed the point I stated in one of the earlier long posts...which is that none of the information you posted, however inaccurate, was relevant.

Purdue is a slightly better team, and should win on that merit. What they've done in the past 2 years is about as relevant as the repeated beatings they took at home 3 years ago.

3 years ago they didn't have nearly the talent (Hummel, Moore, Johnson, etc.) and Illinois lost in the national championship game. How would those games be as relevant as a game played between the two teams last year when many of the same players that will play tonight also played for their respective teams?

But I disagree because the team from 3 years ago wasn't nearly as good as the team from this year or last year or the year before in which we only have lost 3 games at home....The team from this year lost two players from last year in Scott Martin and Terrance Crump....I understand what you are trying to say, but there is a difference between the team this year and last year and the team from 3 years ago which was pitiful at home. So there record is relevant in that they have virtually the same team as last year

What Purdue did last year is extremely relevant to this year's team because its virtually the same exact team (lost one speedy backup PG and gained one speedy backup PG).

As for the three years thing the common way it is used is the last three years includes this season. So quit nitpicking because he used the last three years at home correctly by the way it is most commonly used. Prime example the play-by-play guy said Purdue has lost only three times in the last three seasons at home.

As for what has happened so far is JaJuan Johnson showing he will be in the NBA someday. Hit two long jumpers and had a dunk where he beat Illinois down the court.

And you lost your most recent game to an Illinois team that was worse than this one.

I think Purdue must have learned Bo Ryan's amazing no foul defense. This free throw differential is a joke.

I haven't seen many bad calls in this game and its been officiated evenly. Illinois is taking a lot of jump shots rather than going inside and driving like Purdue.

Wow Purdue really played stupid basketball down the stretch in regulation. Two terrible shots in the last minute and awful defense on the pick and roll. Wish they would have had a better angle on that last foul but it looked pretty iffy.

EDIT: Now two more bad shots in overtime and a defensive lapse in transition. Illinois has got this

Big FT's by McCamey. It was ugly, but a win is a win.

Great start to the Big 10 season. If we can beat Michigan on Thursday, I'll be pretty ecstatic with how things are going.

Well this could be the game Purdue looks back on know that it cost them the championship. Illinois deserves credit but Purdue missing open shots, including free throws, was the difference.

On another note I'm not sure Kramer will be able to play much the rest of the way. From what I've heard and what I saw tonight looks like his shins have given out again. I had really bad shinsplints all the time and the way he was grimacing made me think that is what it is (grimacing, then stopping, then grimacing). Him not being able to play much has a big affect on our defense. Last two games just haven't been close to the same defense.

I don't think Illinois wins that game with Kramer on the floor for Purdue at the end of the game. That said we just beat a top ten team on the road, got a signature win, and now I am going to go get intoxicated to celebrate.

Nice job Boilers. :clapping:

Thank you. If you go to Mackey you can probably say that to them in person because they are likely shooting free throws right now.
