Tennessee's upcoming visit to Lawrence this weekend got much tougher tonight when Center Wayne Chism goes down with an apparent head/neck injury. The junior post is Tennessee's best interior presence, and is a solid defender int he paint. If he's out Saturday, it's going to be tough for Tennessee to go into the Phogg and pull out a win.

i think PSU will be closer to Pomeroy's 7-11 than Sagarin's 5-13, but that may just be wishful thinking.

With the strength of the Big Ten this year its probably 5. In last year's Big Ten its probably 8.

This year's PSU team is better than last year's though. Guess we'll have to wait and see. 5-13 wouldn't shock me though....Penn State just can't recruit the same level of talent as MSU/Purdue/etc., and there's only so much coaching can do

Ok I was just looking at a preview for the game. I had no idea Illinois had played only one away game. That's not right and pretty stupid to me. The committee will see that and probably heavily discount your entire non-conference schedule. That means you are even more than normal dependent on Big Ten schedule.

Compared the one road game played by Purdue? Or the one away game played by Ohio State, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Michigan?

Because games in Texas and St. Louis are obviously home games.

Purdue's "road game" at Ball St. was a true test for the hostile environments of the Big 10.

Yeah, the good Big Ten teams should have their entire non-conference discounted. I'm sure teams in the Big East and ACC played much more balanced home/away non-con schedules.

BE teams that played 0 away games: Louisville

BE teams that played 1 away game: Georgetown, Pitt, UConn, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Marquette, Providence, St. John's

ACC teams that played 0 away games: Maryland

ACC teams that played 1 away game: North Carolina, NC State

I think Illinois did a great job setting up it's non conference schedule. If you asked any Illini fan at the beginning of the season if they thought we would only have one loss at this point I think the answer would have been a resounding no. Jay Price set up a schedule that would offer challenges and opportunities to learn. I don't think many expected to see us get a win at Vandy, or blowout Mizzou and Georgia on neutral courts. Illinois also beat two decent programs (Kent St. and Tulsa) in South Padre.

While the schedule wasn't as hard as Purdue or Michigan or MSU it was appropriate for Illinois as they will need to have a high win total to make the dance. Looking forward to the game tonight, Go Illini!

Should be a pretty close game, but we barely lose at home

As this game draws nearer, I'm feeling a little better about the Hogs' chances against the Sooners. I hadn't really had a good grasp of how much better they are now than they were at the start of the season--that'll happen when you're starting three frehsmen, though. I still don't expect them to win, but I don't expect them to get blown out anymore. They've played good defense all year. It'll depend on how well the Razorbacks establish an inside presence, because they can shoot from the outside with anybody as long as they get good open looks.

Illinois has a rough early schedule (well, outside of the IU home game). Splitting the first two road games would go a long way towards establishing the Illini in the top half of the conference.

I meant 06-07, 07-08, 08-09 bud...We lost to Ohio State two years ago at home Ohio State last year at home and Duke this year at home...Name me more than 2 more

That's not exactly the last 3 years, then. Since 06-07, Purdue has lost 3 home games. Duke, Ohio State, and perennial powerhouse Wofford.
