Mayo is a lot better than Derozan. OJ had a polished, NBA-ready game almost from the time he stepped on the floor at SC. Derozan has a long way to go. He doesn't trust his handle at all (sort of negating his otherwordly athleticism) and his jumper is erratic.

Colorado already lost to Stanford by 14.

Holy hell, Stanford is BAD.

Colorado lost home games to Montana State and TCU, who just beat them by 16. Looks like Bdzelik or however it's spelled has his work cut out for him. There's a combined 3 Juniors and Seniors on the team, one of which plays 4 minutes a game.

Kentucky is 18th in pomeroy's ratings right now. that doesn't seem right.

oh well, at least they'll beat indiana, and if louisville plays like they did vs WKU, they could squeeze a win out in that game as well. i think the miami (fl) game this saturday will be a very good test. if they can cut down on turnovers (they were 2nd nationally, not sure if that has changed or not), they'll be ok.

There's a Big East/SEC Invitational, but it's only four games and Notre Dame wasn't picked to play in it for the second year in a row for some reason. So my interest is pretty minimal.

At least we've got Ohio State at Lucas Oil this weekend. That should be an interesting test, especially if Luke isn't back from pneumonia by then.

oh, i know. mayo had an nba game when he was in junior high.

im just saying that at this point last year , despite all my high hopes going into the season, i was convinced that mayo was no more than a volume shooter, and i was totally wrong.

derozan won't have a mayo-like season, but no one expected it from him in the first place. he has time to get used to college and put together a nice year.

BTW I thought I should tell everyone that a former high school soccer teammate of mine is now a member of the Purdue basketball team. He went to West Lafayette High School like I did, obviously, and was a star but didn't want to go play D II. He was a Purdue freshman last year and over the summer was playing some pick up basketball when a couple of the team members came in. I guess he was able to hold his own with them (I think one was Kramer) and they told him he needed to come try out. When he got to the tryouts I guess Painter knew all about him because those players had told him already and he was the best player in the tryouts. He was added about a week ago.

OU is gonna run us off the floor in the 2nd half :(

Griffin is going to foul our entire front court out, Hackett can't stay in front of Johnson, and our offense bogs down like crazy. We have no slashers :/

leonard washington just punched blake griffin in the balls

i missed the last two minutes, so i dont know what brought it on

Stay classy USC.

that was definitely cheap and he deserved the ejection... kind of looked like a flop to me though...

in other news... Blake Griffin's mother scares me

if a 230 pound man hits me in the balls (and connects good) and I fall to the floor writhing in pain... I'm not hoping up and smiling 15 seconds later...

whatever you say. we both know it's the glancing shots you need to be afraid of, anyway.

DC is scoring but 5 turnovers? And Dragovic is annoying.

The defense is horrible.

And what's up with USC, between the shot to the nuts and Hackett's flagrant.

No wonder OJ Mayo broke Hackett's jaw.

KU could easily lose that game to Zona. I know Zona's not great, but this KU team is gonna lose (and win) some it shouldn't. Could be a fun game, though. Don't know who's gonna guard Budinger.

Also, for all of you looking at UNC and wondering how they'll lose. Roy's teams are always lights out in Nov/Dec. they'll come back to Earth. They're still the best team, but they'll regress (or everyone else will catch up).

yea well, they lost lawson for a lot of the ACC schedule last year. That has got to be the number 1 reason for regressing last year. Remember, their backup PG had been lost for the season slightly before that. Quinton Thomas hadn't played significant minutes in a long, long time and there was nobody to back him up. This year, they are deep at every single position. If any one player went out, they would still be dominant

I'm not denying they're the best team. But as a person who rooted for Roy teams for 10 years, the world-beater in Nov./Dec thing looks really familiar. they run that system really well. And this early in the season, if you're that buttoned up, you're going to outclass a lot of teams, even good ones. Come February, the gap will be smaller. It happens every year with Roy teams.
