I still can't believe Carlos Marmol didn't strike out Nate McClouth on May 25th with 2 outs and a 2-2 count in the bottom of the 9th.

Despite the fact that I don't like to see him used here, there is nothing I enjoy more about the Cubs than watching Carlos Marmol pitch.

Agreed, and yes, in the 5 days previous to this game, he has only thrown 1 inning. Get out of the jam here with the top of the Blue Jays order up, then turn the game over to Lieber in the 9th please.

 

Id be shocked if Marmol doesnt throw the 9th inning also.

I agree. I was iffy on it at first because I thought Marmol had thrown more recently than he actually had. But when somebody posted that Marmol had only thrown 1 inning and 15 pitches in the last week, I was fine with it.

Maybe Marquis was out of gas? You can argue with the decision, but the chances of shutting that situation down increased greatly by bringing in Marmol. Lieber is very hittable, let him start the 9th. Bring Marmol in when you need a strikeout.
