Daryle took 30 swings in BP today at Fitch. The goal is to get him rehabbing in Iowa by the weekend.

its great that he's going to miss interleague play and not be able to dh, his best role.

He had a leg injury for weeks before the back injury forced him to the DL. That's what they're primarily working with him now on to try to get that ready to go so he can maybe make a start or two or at least run the bases after he pinch-hits.

Daryle Ward is similar to DeRosa in my opinion, in that he looks like he's always having fun when he plays/we win. I know I've missed him.

 

Also, I dunno how you couldn't miss him unless you enjoy watching Fontenot being the "big" lefty bat off the bench.

Having basically no power off the bench has sucked. Not saying it's needed, but the option is nice. Hoff and Ward both available for PH roles should be beast.

he just seems to be rapidly declining past his usefulness. about the only thing he's done well so far this year (granted, small sample) is walk. he's not good at defense, and his power is greatly diminished

I'd rather have him than Fontenot off the bench, but with Hoffpaiur its pretty much a wash

His IsoP is exactly the same as it was last year. The only difference is his BABIP, which is a hilariously low .211 on a 20.0 LD%.

Daryle Ward played in an exhibition game at in the AZL today (he went 2 for 3) and then left Mesa. He'll probably start a rehab assignment with Iowa tomorrow (Tennessee is a possibility but Cubs.com said Iowa was probable).
