I watched all 91 holes. Wow!

SD in SD (Sudden Death in San Diego). What a great tournament. What a tough course. I'm going to have to get over and play that one first chance I get.

This was the first time I watched golf for an extended period of time (a good portion of both Sunday and today's rounds) and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'll have to do it more often.

The US Open is the only tourny. I can watch on TV for an extended period of time. They make the course so damn tough it makes golf actually watchable.

Ugh, why does golf take so long? This is entertaining and yet so boring at the same time.

this is coming from a guy that likes soccer. You know the old saying about soccer and golf. We love to play it because it is so boring to watch.

Not even close to the same thing. In golf they hit a shot, walk 200 yards, then stand over the ball for 30 second, then walk around it for few more, talk to the caddy and then hit the shot. Putts are even worse because they walk around the ball for a minute looking at every single angle and slope, then take some practice swings, look at the lie a little more, take a couple more practice swings and then finally shoot the ball.

And in soccer, players kick the ball around the field, and the ball is never close to the goal for 95 percent of the match. It's without a doubt the most boring sport I've ever tried to watch.

The British Open is pretty good too for the challenge reason, although the shots there can be a little more of the flukey variety with the ball rolling all over the place. US Open has the lenghth and spinach, British has the pot bunkers and high heather.

At least the players are doing something on the field (i.e. kicking the ball around) rather than walking for 200 yards in between shots. There's not a chance soccer is more boring than golf. Not even close.

i can watch the majors, ryder cup and maybe the tour championship. the rest of them, who cares.

Yeah Ryder Cup is Awesome. Presidents cup isnt.

Maybe this year Tiger will dominate like he can. His record isnt all that impressive in the Ryder Cups.

And Sergio, well that dude is amazing in the Cups, maybe he will come down to earth this year.

Televised Golfing events usually bounce between players so there's little time that nothing is happening. Usually the moments that take "forever" such as stepping up to the ball or reading a putt build the tension, at least for me anyway. Granted, it isn't everyones cup of tea and I understand that. But watching Golf on tv has never bored me. I'm hoping to go to the US Open next year seeing as it's about 30 minutes away

I also believe that golf is a very social TV sport. You watch it with a group and you know when you need to concentrate and in between the shots you just talk. I've enjoyed many major championships watching with a group of 10-20 having a great time.

While in soccer, there is approximately the same amount of action, but you have to concentrate the entire time on the match because you never know when the action is going to come. That makes it a more boring sport to watch for me because you have more active concentration time that nothing big is happening.

If you are talking about a 2-man playoff, maybe. But as others have stated, most golf on TV involves very few shots of guys just walking around. There are several shots shown in any given minute.

Tiger probably done for season, hope it was worth it.

when is the next major? i wonder if there are any long term ramifications from what he just did to his knee.

This victory was already impressive, but with the severity following the weekend it makes what he was dealing with even more so.

I believe it is the British Open which is a bitch of a walk. This is good news for other pro golfers bad news for the networks that cover golf.

Done.

Woods explained why Wednesday when he revealed he will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee that he injured 10 months ago.

He also suffered a double stress fracture of his left tibia two weeks before the U.S. Open, ignoring doctors’ advice to take six weeks off to let it heal.

This wasn't a smart move from Tiger. I mean, what did he really gain from winning this? Only a 14th major as far as I can tell. I could understand if he was going for a milestone that he might not have a chance to do again. Like if he had won the Masters, the U.S. Open and the British already in a year and had this injury going into the PGA Championship. In that case, go for it because you might not have another shot at the Grand Slam. But this seems kind of pointless to me. Sure, you won this major, but now you guaranteed to miss the next two.

Not to mention that it wasn't a guarantee that he was going to win this one. What if he didn't win? Then he would have done all this for nothing.

Maybe he figured Elin would lose all the pregnancy weight by now and it was a good time to go on a 8-month hiatus.

Well if that's the case, then I can't really blame him.

He probably wanted to play at the course close to his home for a major title more than he wanted to play the British/PGA later in the year. He'll be back for the Masters next year anyway, presumably.
