Rangers cut Ponson over clubhouse incident

The Rangers have reportedly cut ties with Sidney Ponson over what GM Jon Daniels called "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situation unbecoming of teammates."

 

He’s getting designated for assignment. So much for this supposed feel-good story. Ponson was 4-1 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts, but he had declined of late and nothing in his peripherals suggested he was likely to remain a quality pitcher. A source I have inside the Rangers clubhouse told me that this "incident" was simply one too many nights where Ponson ate the entire post-game food spread by himself.

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees have signed free agent Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract.

 

The rest of the AL East must be worried now. Ponson had a 3.88 ERA before getting kicked off the Rangers, but there was no real chance of him keeping it up.

 

Who knows, maybe he wont blow this one.
