The Rangers have reportedly cut ties with Sidney Ponson over what GM Jon Daniels called "disrespectful and adverse reactions to situation unbecoming of teammates."

He’s getting designated for assignment. So much for this supposed feel-good story. Ponson was 4-1 with a 3.88 ERA in nine starts, but he had declined of late and nothing in his peripherals suggested he was likely to remain a quality pitcher. Whether he’s picked up quickly could depend on just how serious of an incident he was involved in with the Rangers. Jun. 6 - 6:48 pm et

This really sucks for him. Heres a one time semi hot comodity that has been having big time troubles just finding a full time gig, and he finally does, and has some success and messes it up by doing we dont even know what.

"Come on, Josh Hamilton, just this one time..."

I like how he refers to him by his full name.

I think the world would be a much funnier place if everyone referred to each other by their first and last name

Sir Sidney Ponson's a grade A douche.

fixed

If you are going to fix a quote, about somebody calling Ponson a douche, you need to address Ponson, as "Sir" since he was knighted in his home country.

So the correct statement isL

"Sir Sidney Ponson, is a grade A douche."

CubbieBum's name is Mike Ponson; he's trying to protect his character.

I think he was pretty clearly just buying into the idea that referring to people by their full names is funny.

A source I have inside the Rangers clubhouse told me that this "incident" was simply one too many nights where Ponson ate the entire post-game food spread by himself.

Do we know what he did yet? My bets are:

a) Tried to give Josh Hamilton drugs.

b) Ate everything in the clubhouse. And I mean everything, they probably will never find Frank Catalanotto.

c) He showed up to a game late and drunk and punch someone in the face.

d) He made a Yo Mamma joke about Daniels' mother.

e) The team realized this was Sidney Ponson and they couldn't keep him any longer.

f) All of the above.

I bet Nolan Ryan threw down his glove, got him in a headlock and fed him knuckle sandwhiches on the way out the door. Edited by Elrhino

I cannot think of an incident egregious enough for the Rangers to cut a 3.88 ERA pitcher.

And it's not exactly a zero tolerance franchise with Vicente Padilla and Milton Bradley in the lockerroom.

Looks like hes getting another chance.

Sidney Ponson-S-Rangers Jun. 18 - 5:35 pm et

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees have signed free agent Sidney Ponson to a minor league contract.

The rest of the AL East must be worried now. Ponson had a 3.88 ERA before getting kicked off the Rangers, but there was no real chance of him keeping it up.

Who knows, maybe he wont blow this one.
