Thanks, Bruce.

Wilken said Cashner has put on 15-20 pounds from last year and that the Cubs would let time determine wither Cashner remains a reliever or goes to the bullpen in the minor leagues.

Do you mean remains a reliever or starts in the minors?

Wilken said they'd let this take its own course. In other words, we don't know yet.

I think he was referring to both options being remain a reliever.

Add Cole to that list of possibilities for 41, forgot about him. Hopefully Melville and Kelly go soon, I'm not sure we'd pay them their demands in the Sandwich round.

I called dropping to the sanwhich round earlier today. I could see drafting Cashner (cheapish sign) signalling that they will spend at another part of the draft.

I think 1 of Cole or Melville can and will make it.

If that happens the Cubs have to take them.....right???

He'll prob. sign for slot, which isn't cheap.

The Cubs taking and paying Melville would make me feel better about taking Cashner.

Alex Meyer and Issac Galloway are two more names to consider for 41.

Meyer ain't going to sign.

better than trading hill and pie for john grabow at the trading deadline, i suppose.

That'd be an interesting trade. Except, we really don't need Pie. Unless he can play right, and we'd put Pearse at first.

I really hope that Odorizzi, Mehlville, or Collier drop to the Cards at 39

I'm typically negative towards the Cards drafting, but I don't see them spending 2.5 mil on a sandwich pick nor do I see them drafting a pitcher that high espec. at that price.

Yeah I am not that confident they would pick them either, but I am just hoping that since they are local guys maybe it would put some pressure on them to dish out a little cash.

I would expect a slotted college arm.

It's a little different these days. Luhnow runs the draft and is a favorite of the owner. If any one of those three are still on the board, I really think that they'll be picked.
