The guy is a sham reliever, lou needs to do something about him and fast. He constantly gives up homers in the ninth inning. I mean, he's done it twice in a row. When is this team going to get it's head out of it's butt.

i don't like the lack of alliteration in this one.

Cubs cant compete with carlos closing

we won't win with marmol pitching 110 innings this year, i will go with that prediction.

The heck with 110....you can't win the ERA race with that, go for 162 Lou!

How about "Cubs can't count on Carlos closing consistently, 'cause Marmol makes me mad"

While he is at it, Lou needs to stop trusting that kid Gallagher. It's not right that he trusts some rookie in the rotation, because he never does that.

“We’ve talked about 13 pitchers here in the past, and I think we’re going to have to start talking about it again,” he said. “Michael is walking people. In that type of role, you have to make the other people put the ball in play. You just can’t walk people, and most of the times he comes into ballgames, that’s exactly what happens, and it forces me to go get another pitcher.”

Piniella said he might have to give Carlos Marmol some more rest, after the Cubs’ top set-up man surrendered a three-run homer in the ninth to Adrian Gonzalez.

“Carlos is probably a little tired, and understandably so,” he said. “So I’ve got to give him a good breather.”

Again, good to hear from Lou. Let's see if he actually does it now.

Also, from Marmol:

Marmol said Gonzalez was “lucky” because it was a good pitch.

“It was a good pitch that nobody can hit if it’s right there,” he said. “That’s what I feel like.”

Marmol insisted he is not “tired,” and said he’ll tell Piniella that on Tuesday.

I thought Hendry should have been fired the minute he let go of Will Ohman. I always told myself Carlos might have some of the best stuff I've ever seen, but theres something not quite right about those ears.

What does Will Ohman have to do with anything in this thread?
