I am intoxicated and wrote this game off as a Cobs L. I turned on the TV at my friends house to see they were up 10-9.

I love life right now.

That's just an amazing win.

I don't think I'm very upset that I missed it though. I probably would have had to go to the emergency room.

VERY NICE COMEBACK!

I'm sitting here reading this game thread and getting goosebumps thinking about how awesome it must be to watch this team this year. I popped in Go Cubs Go on repeat and I think I'll leave it there for awhile.

I love it.

Now that the awesomeness has subsided a tad, we can all start feeling guilty that Jim Edmonds significantly aided the Cubs in winning a ballgame.

lord. i don't like edmonds either but if he's going to come through and help us we can enjoy it.

that said, i'm sure this was a one time deal, but i'll take it.

I liked Lou's press conference.

reporter - "Would you have kicked yourself for taking out Lee and Soto if you lost 9-7"

Lou- "No. Why would I... my foot isn't that long."

I give in...I want "Go Cubs Go" as my ringtone...would anyone be willing to pix/video message it to me? My microSD card is broken so I can't transfer it myself.

I get it he's your favorite player. Can't he not be mine? I just don't feel safe with him on the hill. Sue me.

He doesn't have to be your favorite, but what does he have to do for you to feel safe with him? His numbers are downright amazing. All of them. From HR's allowed to K:BB ratio, to K/9, to OPS against, to high leverage OPS, to RISP 2 outs, to close and late OPS against, to his overall control to his ERA +. What do you need from him? He's been way better than anyone expected if you look at his metics, pretty much any and all of them.

i will say that most of the time i am all for wood being the closer, but given that marmol clearly had his lights-out stuff and wood is still a risk to not really have his command from time to time. i also stupidly said that kerry is a fly ball pitcher - which is true - except marmol's FB/GB is even more severe. But, marmol does a better job of preventing balls from being hit (i.e., strikeouts), so I still would've preferred him in the ninth inning.

whatever. it's a nice problem to have, two very good pitchers for the end of a ballgame. the bullpen is #5 in MLB in ERA, #4 in OBP against, #3 in WHIP and #2 in K/BB. it's a bullpen that's deep in talent, has a guy who is proving his worth as a closer, and one of the top bullpen arms in all of baseball. another reason why the cubs should win the division handily.

I've become used to it. I see how the team is, and how the wind is at Wrigley.

This could easily become a Rockies lead.

He must not know the awesomeness of Marmol and Wood.

not to pee in everyone's cheerios, but both of edmonds' big hits (homer, 2-run double) were hit on hanging breaking pitches. i still don't see the evidence that he can get around on a decent fastball.

Who cares. I don't care if he hit a 90 mph fast, or offspeed pitches, or Jamie Moyer's caliber change up, fact is fact, Edmonds came up with two huge hits---regardless of type pitches.

BTB, I know Edmonds doesn't hit fastball anymore, but let Edmonds enjoy his one day in the sun with the Cubs. And let us semi-tolerate Edmonds for one day.

HAHAHHAHAHA THEY WON?

WOW

WTF

I turned it off at work when it was 3-0.... Kept keeping track, saw the 3 run fake rally online.

Drove home only to find out they won.

Holy crap!

I think the acronym "WTF" is particularly appropriate today. But in a really good way!

That, and  smilies

I came back from lunch and it was 9-1, followed with the radio online till it was 9-3 and then missed the 7th in a mtg and then missed the 9th in another mtg. Amazing.

WOW!!

I would have given anything to be at this game! I listened on my lunch hour and wrote it off when it was 4-0.

What is it about the Cubs and Rockies that they have classic games? I can think of 3 immediately... the 2001 Steve McMichael/Ricky Guttierrez game, the 6-run 9th inning comeback, and today.

Wow.

And I can't help it... as much as I know this team is going to rip my heart out and stomp on it, I'm starting to believe. This just feels like such a special, magical year.

I stop watching when it was 8-1. I had 3 friends frantically calling me saying are you watching the Cubs?!?!!? I said yea we are getting killed. He said just turn on the TV - I did and I was stunned to see a score of 10-9. Wow! What a game!
