To be perfectly honest I expect Sean to have a long day tomorrow. Hope we can tag Chacon.

By which you mean he's going to have a long outing and go deep into the game, obviously...

I'd be shocked if he makes it 4 innings...

Sean is going to have to show some moxie to get through the Astros line-up multiple times tonight. The short porch in left means he can't make many mistakes inside to the right handed hitters.

I'm sure Sean is capable.

Go Cubs!

Hitters haven't been able to pull Gallagher much this season. I can't think of any balls that have been pulled hard to LF other than the Byrnes double in his first start, and I believe that was on a hanger. Nobody's been really able to get around that far on his fastball which he has thrown mostly away. In fact, going thru the boxscore none of the RHs for the Pirates were able to pull the ball in the air against him. Laroche and Mientkiewicz each pulled the ball for fly outs to RF. Looks like Upton also lined out to LF in the 1st inning for Arizona.

This one could go either way for me. Sean could get tagged, but Houston isn't unsimilar to the Arizona team he faced. Houston strikes out less, but walks much less than the DBacks.

Gotta get to Chacon though, because he sucks. Aramis owns him! I'd really like to see Lou go back on his word and start Derrek tonight. If the Cubs woulda won yesterday, it would be a different story, but I'd like to take this series, and Derrek gives the team a better chance to do that than Hoffpauir.

What you say makes me optimistic for tonight. One other thing that gives me hope is that Sean is a smart pitcher. He's shown that in his minor league starts as well. Berkman will probably be the hitter that gives Sean the most trouble, but Berkman gives lots of pitchers fits.

Sweet! For some reason I thought St. Louis won last night.

Thats usually a pretty safe assumption anytime someone plays the Padres.

Anyway, last nights loss was acceptable, the Cubs arent the only team whose ever had some low-mid level pitcher who they cant figure out. That bieng said, lets not start another one of whatever that was a few weeks ago. This guys another classic journeyman. Lets give him his first decision and make it a big fat L.

I like Gallagher a lot but like others I don't feel too optimistic about his start tonight. I hope i'm very wrong. Go Sean!

I dont so much feel optimistic about Gallaghers start as I do that we can tatoo Chacon and the Astros middle relievers for double digits. Even if the Cubs do drop another one, the weekend series with the Pirates should ensure that things dont get out of control.

In other news, is Asciano the savior of Marmol's arm? I can only hope so.

And to try and reverse all this negative mojo for Sean that I was the first to bring up, kick their asses Gallagher.

Just for sh**s and giggles I'd like to see Soriano not swing the bat leading off the first, I suspect he'd walk on 4-6 pitches. I'm pretty certain I know what Chacon' approach to Soriano will be - slider low and away, followed by another, and another, and another...

And Sorianos approach will be swing and a miss, foul back, swing and a miss.

I believe that should be Lee's argument against Lou, for taking today off. Lee does not like to sit out a game, and I bet he will use the argument of "we can win the series" as justification for not sitting out.

Like Hoffpauir, I like the fact that Lou wants to get him some playing time instead of rotting on the bench, but if the Cubs can win a series, you must keep your best hitters in the lineup. With Lee starting to get out of his slump, I can't see keeping him out of the rubber match against Houston.

Just for sh**s and giggles I'd like to see Soriano not swing the bat leading off the first, I suspect he'd walk on 4-6 pitches. I'm pretty certain I know what Chacon' approach to Soriano will be - slider low and away, followed by another, and another, and another...

I am pretty certain you can't walk on less than 4 pitches and that, assuming you don't swing, you can't walk on any more than 6.
