So thanks to Jason Marquis for getting me my first GDT win...

Tomorrow night's matchup features:

Thank you ESPN for not showing a Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, or Tigers game for once.

Also, this game probably marks the return of the savior to the lineup:

Big game to start the series. The Cubs have hit Moehler well, best of all Jim Edmonds who has the most ABs against him. Moehler has made just 2 starts and has gone 5 innings, 80 pitches for both. So, there's a clear threshold there and the Cubs should be able to get in Houston's pen to start the series.

Lilly has great numbers against Tejada, Lee and Berkman, but I worry about him in that park with the short LF porch and him being a flyball pitcher. He likes to pitch inside to RH hitters, and the Crawford boxes may limit that and take away a strength of his. In 1 career start in Houston (as a Blue Jay), Lilly gave up 3 HRs in 6 innings. Lilly has had good control again this year, and Houston doesn't walk much. So, that will be a key.

The other teams in our division need to stop winning.

It don't matter, CT, 'cause we can win more.

Still, it's more comfortable if the other teams lose.

We get to see the Astros versions of Corey Patterson (Michael Borne) and Nefti Perez (Kaz Matsui) at the top of the Stros's order. So, Berkman/Lee/Tejada/Pence should not have too many RBI opportunities.

Uh-oh, Edmonds is probably starting. Well atleast we can get his start over with against a mediocre pitcher. :P

We should win depending on Lilly. Let's hope the good Ted shows up today.

Unfortunately they've been winning with this.

At least the Brewers are losing.

Ned Yost can't possibly have a job for much longer.

Hasn't Michael Borne had an unusually high percentage of big games against the Cubs? I don't like the term Cub killer, but the way I am remembering things, he seems to be on his way to being one.

I didn't now this was on ESPN. It seems like this year there is about five CSN games a week, so any game I can see that's not on WGN is a plus.

I would agree with you on Bourne (.192/.262/.276/.538), but not on Matsui (.283/.374/.396/.770). You're not reading that wrong, in 110 at bats, Matsui has done well for the Astros. Will he keep it up? Prolly not, but right now, he has to be taken as a semi-threat in the lineup.

There's only two legit threat in the Astros lineup; Berkman and Lee. Tejada is a expensive singles hitter, and Pence is a swingaholic. Towles is the 3rd best catcher in the division (behind THE best catcher Soto, and the 2nd best catcher Molina). So if Dempster/Gallagher and Lilly keeps the bases empty then Berkman and Lee won't hurt the Cubs (and you know they will) as much.

So I like the Cubs chance of taking atleast two from the Astros.

edit: One more things....the Astros have Moehler (4.58 era), Sampson (6.46) and Chacon (4.14) going in the series. So if the Cubs don't take atleast two handily, I be disappointed. This series is definately looking like an opportunity for Lee and ARam to get their bats going.

He's had 15 career plate appearances against the Cubs with a .214/.267/.357 line. He has 2 stolen bases.

Tejada is hitting those singles nearly 35% of the time he comes to the plate though. Also, I should point out that Tejada does have a .212 ISOP at home this year. That's well over his career ISOP and if he played 162 games where this series is going to be played, it would be the 2nd best power season of his career. Also, Pence is OPS'ing 1.021 in May so far and of course, has also hit much better at home. You're kidding yourself if you think the Astros only have 2 legit threats, especially in Minute Maid.
