bruce thinks it's a low-risk move, mostly harmless. will everyone stop bitching about it now?

It is low-risk performance-wise. That doesn't make it less stupid.

actually, it does. you see, low-risk means "little risk".

Tossing Felix Pie to the minor leagues when we know exactly what will happen with him down there is stupid. I don't care how little risk is involved.

And we have a bunch of shirtless "E-d-m-o-n-d-s" guys in the bleachers. boo.

I hate Cubs fans.

You all know what I am talking about.

I am still really weirded out about this...Watch him hit a game winning home run and then everyone changes their minds and he becomes a fan fave

I believe that's an exact quote from Mariotti's article in today's SunTimes

No, because Bruce is wrong.

I could well be wrong. I've had to talk myself into living with it (like I have another choice). If it doesn't work, they'll just get rid of him.

No, you're right. It would only have been bad had it taken PT away from Pie. But since Felix wasn't getting any, it really doesn't make any difference.

But we don't need him and he is hated at least by a majority of Cubs fans. If this post makes me a "meatball" then so be it.

no, i beg to differ. it is a communist board because we're all supposed to be meatballs and hate edmonds or get flamed.

Comrade!

I clicked on that link just before the national anthem...freaky

don't do that!

what? that anthem is better than ours.

I forgot you are the resident communist.

Shouldn't you like a communist board then?

yeah, it's a paradox.

I have to admit, I'm slightly curious/excited to see what Edmonds does at the plate, what he looks like in a Cubs uni, etc.

It's my natural inclination when we get a new guy. I was even slightly looking forward to seeing Izturis in his first game, despite knowing how badly he sucked (and I'm pretty sure he laced a double down the RF line in his first AB).

well, then, to you, it's "high-risk".

hating him for being jim edmonds makes you a meatball.

The risk of screwing up the development of our #1 prospect by keeping him in AAA when he can't really benefit from it anymore far outweighs a few weeks of Jim Edmonds possibly being bad.

Whether you all like it or not, Edmonds is a Cub now. We cheer him.

I don't believe in booing your own players, but that doesn't mean I cheer him.

With all due respect to Bruce, I think even he would agree that people are allowed to have differing opinions about things. Now obviously he's more in the know, and might have some sort of knowledge about why Pie was never given a shot, or why Edmonds was better than his numbers in SD, but even then, this isn't a communist board where everyone is supposed to think alike.

Why does it make somebody a meatball to dislike bad baseball players on the Cubs?

meatballs don't hate edmonds because he's a bad baseball player.

like i said, the move is pointless at worst.

I don't know why, but calling people meatballs sounds so odd. Sounds like something someone would say in the 70's

no, it doesn't. it's just the best term for what they are.

i think characterizing it as "odd" is even more odd.

i thought it was "meatheads"

I thought he just missed a home run. I could be way wrong though

I won't boo him right off the bat. But I'll probably be quicker to boo him than anyone else on the team.
