c/o chicagotribune:

Former Cub Mark Prior returned to San Diego to have his shoulder examined after having more problems in extended spring training. The Padres had hoped he would be pitching in minor-league games by now, but he has not appeared in any.

I feel bad for him. I don't get why so many people enjoy mocking him on this site.

:(

I enjoy mocking the people who mock him. Prior's career has been a tragic story, and the unwashed masses like questioning his manhood since he's young, well spoken, good looking, rich, and good at baseball. Certain guys are injury prone, and it sucks for them. He's not allowed to do what he does best because of injuries, and people think that's funny?

See, it was heartbreaking to them how they thought he'd be a great pitcher and then he wasn't. It hurt them way more than it hurt Prior to see his lifelong dream crumble in front of him, slowly and painfully.

is he really good looking though? I always thought he was hilarious looking, but maybe he's just not a hat guy

I dunno, I thought he was classically handsome.

we should seriously debate this

i thought his neck was too long and his ears were too big for him to be called classically handsome. i think a pair of spectacles would have done wonders for him, plus he should have grown his hair out

I can't find that sexy picture of him with the Padres when everyone thought he was giving the finger.

There was that picture where he looked like Count Chocula.

Count Chocula is based on Dracula.

Dracula porks chicks all the time.

Mark Prior must be a good looking man.

His lifelong dream has crumbled to the tune of 15 million dollars in earnings before his 30th birthday. Yes, it's sad that he won't be the hall of famer he should have been, but I really can't feel sorry for a guy who has already made more money than I will in my entire life.

and a guy who would have made more than 100 million dollars in his lifetime if he'd stayed healthy. plus, did you know that after prior pays taxes and 10 percent to his agent, a lot of that money goes away? and his ability to make money of his greatest ability may just be gone before he turned 30? that kinda sucks!

90% of 15 million is a lot of money. I'm not saying it doesn't suck for him, but I also wouldn't say that his lifelong dream has exactly crumbled when he's set for life because of it.

actually it is probably more like 40%, unless prior is exempt from paying taxes like the rest of us.

40% of 15 million is still a lot of money for playing a game.

Every experience I've had around him, and everyone I know who had experiences with him described him as a jag, so now that he's not on the Cubs, I have no problem reveling in his injury just a little bit.

Even if it was at USC, he made a good decision to stay in school and finish his undergraduate degree while playing baseball.

With that said, he's got a ways to go before his career is over. The shoulder surgery was pretty recent.

is your own life really so pathetic that you need to revel in other people's misfortune? maybe if you had more going on in your life, you would receive pleasure from things other than the professional and health-related setbacks of complete strangers.

Every time I hear something about Prior I think back to 2003 when he & Woody would just mow down everyone in their path, and back then I was like :yahoo:

And now when I think back to it I'm like :cray:

I don't have any ill will at Prior, but I do enjoy pointing and laughing at those who said the Cubs would rue the day they decided to stop paying him millions to rehab.
