These fastballs are straight, coming in at 95 mph....why dont we just tee off?

His changeup and slider have been decent today. He's doing a decent job keeping everyone off-balance.

Um...wow.

Soto hits a grounder to Ojeda. Ojeda throws out Ramirez at home.

Ramirez got a bad jump on that one.

2 out, Soto at 1B.

What was annoying was that Grace said during the Soto bat, that wit the D'backs INF playing back, conceding the run. All Soto has to do was put the ball on the ground and the Cubs would lead 1-0 (or something to the affect), and the first thought was,,,,with ARam at 3rd, I want a fly ball in the OF.

And WAY the heck is Ojeda making that throw in the 2nd inning? That doesn't bode well for the D'backs chances at scoring if they are making those kind of decision. They luck out and get the out, but that's not a good decision by Ojeda.

How was that not a good decision? It was an easy decision. Ramirez was barely off third when Ojeda got the ball. Just a decent throw easily gets ARam.

It wasn't a good decision, period. ARa got a bad jump off third base, which the decisione easier. But had ARam got a good jump off third, Ojeda would have settle for the out at first. It's never a good idea to throw home early in the game unless: A. You don't think you are going to score many runs. B. You got an extremely slow runner at third, to which better your chances at throwing the guy out.

Throwing home this early in the game is always a stpuid decision. D'Bags got lucky it worked out, but had it not, the Cubs would be 1-0, and would have turned the lineup over quicker. There was no upside into throwing home this early. But fortunately for them, they got the out. But 9 out of 10 times, Ojeda doesn't make that throw.

Yes, 9 times out of 10 he doesn't make that throw, because 9 times out of 10 the runner doesn't get THAT horrible of a jump off third. He caught the ball looked and saw where Ramirez was and knew he could easily throw him out. I don't care how early it is in the game, you never give up a run if you have that good of a chance to throw the runner out. Period.

We just got a break on that call. EDIT: nevermind, the catcher dropped the ball.

I'm not sure whether to applaud Soriano for heads up baserunning, or whether to criticize him for being a moron. I'm leaning towards the latter..

It's like Dustyball all over again when it worked.

Thats the kind of idiotic agression that we love when it works, but when it doesnt, a guy like Soriano gets crucified.

Still, Ill take it.

And there's that play
