HAHAHAHAHA first we use Marmol in a 19-5 game this week, and that is reasoning why we let Fox go 2 innings Fri night. Now we use him in a 9-3 game, when we could use Gallagher, or maybe even Marshall since he threw 1 freaking pitch last night. Oh wait Marshall can only face lefties.

Im thinking this thread may need stickied cause theres going to be alot more to add here Im afraid.

This is not that hard, Piniella.

Find some garbage down in AAA, give him a roster spot. Anytime the game is not within five runs, throw him out there. Abuse him arm in this manner until it falls off, then replace him with another garbage AAA guy. It's called "mop-up duty," and it's been around longer than you have.

Lous a Hall of Fame manager you better not question him, or he may snap at you like he did the reporter for questioning him the other day.

Can we just go back to Dusty? I at least prefer crazy and nice to crazy and angry.

What was that thread we used to have that referred to every bad move made by Dusty? We might have to start one of those threads for Lou.

This is it now. Its either this or I start a Fire Lou bandwagon.

I love how Lou refused to use Marmol last night in a tight tie game, but trotted him out today during a blowout.

That just about made my week.

I'm still in shock Marmol pitched two innings.

Well he was tired from those pitches he threw in the 19-5 game.

His team won the division last year barely. So far this year he is over managing and mismanaging at a Dusty Baker pace. You can be happy winning divisions, I want championships, and he hasnt done that.

Posted

He's overmanaging because he thinks he has a very talented team and if he can push them over the top with some flicks of the wrist he will.

Too bad basically anything a manager does it ultimately hurts his team. Stop and let the boys play Lou, its how baseball works.

Bash away, but I'm fine with sending Hill down. He's clearly got things that need to be worked out at this point. The ERA is fine, but you cannot succeed over the long run walking 18 in 19 IP. Let him get ironed back out and then come back and dominate again.

The usage patterns of Marmol, Cedeno and Pie baffle me, though. Let's start Pie against one of the better RH pitchers in the NL, but sit him against Loshe. You know, just giving him the best chance to succeed.

btw - any reason he left Soriano in the OF with the big lead even after bringing Pie in the game?

I agree with all of this. Pie should have gotten the start today. Cedeno should have started either yesterday or today (I don't care which position, but you need to give some PT to a guy who is playing that well). I could understand most of Marmol's usage patterns until today, and then Lou just baffled me throwing him 2 innings.

And I also agree about Hill. He's going to get fixed a lot quicker down there because there will be no need for a quick hook. They'll let him struggle and get up close to his pitch count, and all those innings will just make it that much sooner that he's back up and is at last year's form once again.

I think he left Soriano in today just to get him some more work and get him back up to game speed.

What the HELL was Lou thinking letting Mamol pitch TWO innings in a blowout win? For that matter, why did he pitch AT ALL? Inexcusable and unforgiveable.

Its not so much the sending Hill down that bothers me. Its the trying to change stuff with a pitcher who was in the top 30-40 pitchers in all of baseball last year. Just leave him alone and let him pitch, but Lou has been pretty annoyed with Rich ever since he got the job, and its mind boggling.

As for leaving Soriano in with the big lead today, I think the only other option would have been Ward. Murton can only PH just like Marshall can only face lefties.

Murton's been off the team for a few days now. I think he meant they could have shifted Johnson over to LF instead of taking him out of the game.

Oops yea I forgot all about Murton being sent down since we hardly seen him when he was up. But yea nvm this team just has me confused.

Exactly. I'm mad that Lou forced him to the point where sending him down is the only option. I wouldn't bunch Lou with Dusty quite yet. If he continues his quest to ruin Hill, Marmol, Pie, Cedeno, Marshall, then maybe. The way Dusty completely destroyed such a promising group of players was epic. Lou still has time to catch up, though. Hopefully he goes back to being decent like he was last year.
