Hart blows

Oh please, he's pitched just fine this inning. He should have had the inning ending Double play. He should have had a ton of strikes that the umps didnt call. This inning should ahve been over long ago.

Giving up two hits and a walk in one inning is pitching fine?

Leadoff 2B to Holliday

Groundout by Atkins

Intentional walk to Hawpe

Tulo reaches on FC/should have been DP

------------------------------------------------should have ended inning with 1 hit and 1 intentional walk (can't be held against Hart)

Strikes out Iannetta

Single by Spilborghs

Podsednik Groundout

You tell me how the first part of the inning wasn't pitching fine? He gave up a double and should have been out of the inning at that. It always makes it tough on the pitcher when he has to get 5 outs in an inning.

That's what I get for basing what I said on a box score.

Fair enough. Didn't know you were going off only a box.

For the most part. Usually I don't spend any time on NSBB at work, but the game was close so I chimed in. Wrongly, apparently.

Anyone ever hear of the 60/60/60 saying? 60 wins, 60 losses, 60 variables. I know its the game thread forum, and I too have been criticized for letting my immediate emotions fly here, but some days our pitchers aren't going to get the job done, or our hitters aren't going to hit with RISP. It happens.

If we go quietly, we went 3-1 against everyones NL Favorites, and last years NL Champs. Not bad.

Actually no, I've never heard of that. Is that something that's widely acknowledged?

"Nearly every team wins 60 games and loses 60 games, it's what you do with the other 42 games." Or something like that.

Not sure how UMF came up with 60 variables though.

That eas a sad, sad effort. Time to head to Washington, who while are a bad baseball team by all accounts, have some of our classic nemesi(nemesis plural?) in Willy Mo Pena, Felipe Lopez, and of course Austin freaking Kearns.

We should've had this. We should've scored more than one with bases loaded and nobody out, and we should've gotten out of the 8th unscathed.

Oh freakin well.

Yeah looking at the box score can be misleading at times but if that's all you have, sometimes you have to deal with it. This is definitely a case where Hart pitched better than his line will indicate.

Either I:

1) Can't count

or

2) Was including the playoffs.

...yeah...the second one...

18 playoff games mean the Cubs get to the World Series at least.

How'd Felix look?

Pretty good at the plate, although it certainly helped him that Cook was throwing early strikes (Pie saw 4 total pitches today).

He probably took too much time getting the ball back into the infield on Holliday's double in the 8th, but I think he was surprised that Holliday was attempting it. It was a very small error, not anything to be concerned about.

The way I heard it was that you'll win 50 games and you'll lose 50 games, how you deal with the rest is how good you are.

It's broken down by 1/3. 54/54/54. AT least that's how Stone always said it. Everybody wins 54, loses 54, it just depends on how you do in the other 54.

The most inane idea ever. Which category does today's loss reside in? The 54 losses or the "other" 54?

It really seems like an idea Dusty would come up with. I have no idea why reasonably intelligent people subscribe to this.

Yeah, it's really [expletive].

Subscribe? It's just a saying....

Let me just say that I'm not worried about this loss. This is not the NFL. We weren't going to have a perfect season. The focus should be less on individual games and more on consistency of play over the course of the year.
