I was just offered the privilege of acquiring Ryan Braun, at the low, low cost of Chipper Jones and George Sherrill. I also have Evan Longoria.

Thats not that terrible of a trade offer. Chipper is insanely om fire (reminds you of someone from last year...) but is already hurting this early in the season.

Maybe if the third basemen were reversed, but why would I sell high on Chipper only to get another 3B that I'm buying low on? And I add the closer?

Anyway, this guy is obsessed with trying to get Sherrill, the current counter proposal after several back and forths is Sherrill for Braun. Cross your fingers.

No offense, but that trade proposal belongs in this thread about eighty bagillion times more than the original one you posted. Good luck though!

Oh no doubt, I figure it's worth a shot for a guy this focused on getting Sherrill when he already has Pap, Jenks, and Lyon.

Doesn't hurt to try! Which kinda should be the mantra of this thread.

No kidding. If you (TT) get Braun for Sherrill, everyone else in your league is going to be pissed. Some pissed at you. Some pissed at themselves b/c they didn't take advantage of the other owner before you did.

I just got offered Alex Rios, Ryan Doumit, and Francisco Liriano for the low, low price of Carl Crawford, Chris B. Young, and John Smoltz.

I can't stop laughing.

I just made a stupid trade offer to one of my friends. I give Konerko and Brandon Lyon, I get Carl Crawford. I fully expected it to be rejected, as I offered it half-jokingly. Well, he accepted it, and I'm filled with joy. However, I'm sure the league will ultimately veto it.

In his defense, his outfield is stacked and he needed saves like Barbara Walters needs Republican Senators from Massachusetts.

Edit: As I was typing this, the trade received enough votes to veto it. :(

Even the "win-win" trade has its limits...and you reached them.

I was just rummaging through my old emails and found a slew of trade offers from one of last years NSBB leagues. Some trades I was offered last year...

I get Julio Lugo, Brad Lidge, and Corey Patterson

for

Chase Utley and Ian Snell

I get Jack Cust, Mark DeRosa, and Matt Capps

for

Chase Utley

I get Reggie Willits

for

Ken Griffey, Jr.

In the same vein however, I made a horrible trade offer of Placido Polanco and Matt Cain for Hanley Ramirez at the beginning of last season. Granted, this was before he broke out into superstar material, and Cain was still pegged to be a potentiual ace and Polanco was hitting the ball well, but in retrospect, what a good idea for that guy to reject, lol.

We have a new guy playing in our league this year (new to fantasy altogether) and he is completely in love with starting pitching.

Early in the year he traded Jose Reyes for Volquez and Bonderman. At the time there was no real indication that Volquez would be this good and plenty to indicate that Bonderman would suck again. No idea why he made that move or several others after (including straight up dropping Sabathia after his first start).

The guy who cleaned house on that trade already had Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Tejada. So, he had a logjam at SS. For some reason he got his mind set on trading Ramirez for pitching (his autodrafter did screw his pitching, but still). I got him down to Scott Kazmir and Houston Street for Ramirez. I was pretty happy with that

Turns out a couple of other guys were trying to get similar deals but I clicked "accept" first. heh heh

BTW, yes, the trades were all accepted by the league. Our league view is that vetoes are meant to prevent collusion, not to evaluate who is getting the best end of the deal.

I just got offered Carlos Marmol for A-Rod.

I was tempted, but then I realized Marmol would kill the guy who traded him just because it insinuated he is not the best player in the world.

I was just offered:

Edwin Encarncion

Brad Hawpe

Justin Morneau

for:

Vlad Guerrero

Aramis Ramirez

errr... I don't think so

That trade would have netted you 108 points thus far. Yes, ARam is the best player in that deal, but both Morneau and Encarnacion are outscoring Vlad, and it's not terribly close.

Anything I get from Hosak.

Actually thank you huber for not making that trade since I ended up with Morneau.

I got offered Ryan Ludwick and Johnny Cueto for Alfonso Soriano.

I know Ludwick is on a tear and all, but Sori is worth a lot more than that.

I was just offered:

Raul Ibanez

Torri Hunter

C.C. Sabathia

for

Josh Hamilton

I don't need pitching and my outfield is already stacked, and giving away Hamilton for Ibanez and Hunter will make it worse.

This might be the worst "stupid trade offer" post ever.

Worst as in I was stupid to deny it or worst as in the guy who offered it to me is an idiot?

Has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the offer or you denial of it. Worst in that it's far from a stupid trade offer. In fact, I think the guy was overpaying for Hamilton. But if you feel you're better off with Hamilton than accepting the deal, there's no fault in that either. It's just a trade offer that you didn't think benefited your team.

Oh, gotcha. Well, my outfield already consists of Hamilton, Sizemore, Kemp, J. Upton, Dunn, C. Young, and Braun if I choose to plug him in there. The combined stats of Ibanez and Hunter is roughly equal to the production Hamilton has put up alone to this point. On top of that, I have other OF's who are playing better than both of them so they'd probably be riding the pine. And on top of that, I'd be making a 3 for 1 swing which means I'd have to drop two players. I wouldn't mind having Sabathia, but not at the cost of two players being dropped and losing Josh Hamilton. Because of this, I thought it was stupid

In a keeper league that values offense far more than pitching (the Top 20 players from last year included 3 pitchers), I was offered Jon Lester for Ian Kinsler. Both players are exempt, meaning that neither's point totals count against your team's allotment of points that can be kept from one year to the next. But, Lester's no hitter accounts for 50 of his 179 points, and he's still nearly 40 behind Kinsler. He will likely finish somewhere around 140 points behind Kinsler when all is said and done.

The kicker? In the comments section of the offer, the person making the offer wrote "Merry Christmas!"

Appropriate if the owner making the offer was Ebenezer Scrooge or The Grinch.
