In a keeper league that values offense far more than pitching (the Top 20 players from last year included 3 pitchers), I was offered Jon Lester for Ian Kinsler. Both players are exempt, meaning that neither's point totals count against your team's allotment of points that can be kept from one year to the next. But, Lester's no hitter accounts for 50 of his 179 points, and he's still nearly 40 behind Kinsler. He will likely finish somewhere around 140 points behind Kinsler when all is said and done.

The kicker? In the comments section of the offer, the person making the offer wrote "Merry Christmas!"

Now that's a stupid trade offer. If you know this guy and don't punch him in the face the next time you see him (for the comment), you're a better man than I.

I don't know him outside of NSBB at all. He's a good enough guy, though. He is, after all, the People's Champ.

I'll pay your membership to nsbb for a year if you punch him in the face...

You want even more? He's got Matt Holliday in LF. Holliday is injured and out until at least late next week. So, I offered him Bay (who has outscored Holliday by 28 points so far this year) for Holliday, and his response was "AWFUL Trade!" This from a guy who is starting shane Victorino in CF because he's had to move his CF to LF. Oh yeah, Victorino is being outscored by Bay by SEVENTY points.

I may have to take that offer of yours...

True story. I dropped Troy Percival on June 6th. On June 8th, he was picked up off waivers by another team. On June 14th, I was asked if I had any interest in trading for none other than Troy Percival.

OMG THAT'S THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING I'VE EVER HEARD.

I have Matt Holliday in a non-keeper 5x5 league. Today I was offered Daisuke Matsuzaka straight up for Holliday. I know Holliday has been hurt (then again so has Dice-K), but there's no way I'm gonna trade a first round pick who should have his best numbers ahead of him for a pitcher who is probably more than halfway to his W total at this point.

Maybe this doesn't seem like a stupid offer to you guys, but it did to me.

He's apparently doing something right though. He went 19-4 last year and won the championship in his first year in the league and he is currently 10-2 this season and leading the league in scoring. :-k

i wouldn't pick up any of those 4 players from the waiver wire. he's 40 pts back of first, and i'm 8 or so. i wonder if i accepted whether the league would veto. probably, but it wouldn't be in their best interest.

In one of my leagues, one guy offered another...

Mike Lowell and Brian Wilson

for

Jake Peavy

I've been trying to get some pitchers from some people for much better offers. If this goes through I'm gonna be pissed. The guy getting Peavy in this trade also happens to be the commish of the league.

EDIT: What the crap. The trade is actually pending, and where it says "Send a message to the commish to protest" when you click on it nothing happens, it's not a button, it won't let me send a message in protest

Doesn't sound like you're picking up good vibrations. :D

You don't click a button. You go to the commish's team page and click Send Email and tell him you protest.

Well crap. It's too late now. They should let people know that instead of putting a big gray box that says "Click here to protest this trade and send a note to the commissioner"

Offer hot off the press:

Getting:

Nate McLouth

Ryan Doumit

2nd round pick

for

Grady Sizemore

Geovany Soto

:-&

I take it you're in a keeper league. If McLouth and Doumit didn't have such a sketchy offensive history, it might not be a bad deal, but they're only breaking out this year, who knows what will happen next year. I know you can say the same for Geo, but he was expected to produce like this this year, McLouth and Doumit weren't. And Sizemore? That's really the icing on the cake for that one

I don't even have to look to see who made you that offer. The People's Champ is my very educated guess.

Sounds like he has quite the reputation.

If you'll look (not too far) up, you'll see the "Merry Christmas" offer he made me. I'd say he has a reputation.

It was the combination of that offer and this one that lead to my comment.

I give: David Wright, Roy Halladay and Brandon Webb

I get: Ryan Zimmerman, A.J. Burnett, Fausto Carmona, and Colby Rasmus (wtf)
