I know some people might disagree, but I like the bunt here. Sure, you may cost yourself an out, but getting on the scoreboard first is that important.

But with a runner on 2nd with Lee and Aram coming up there is no need to bunt.

I wouldn't have been entirely against it if Riot would be slumping, but with as hot as he's been, you let him hit away there.

It is pretty important. That's why you don't lower your chances of doing it by bunting.

The runner is already in scoring position and you're going to have the heart of the order coming up. Bunting the guy to third is unnecessary.

Nice heads-up by Riot going to 2nd when McLouth missed the cutoff man.

Grit jokes aside, Riot is a pretty smart baseball player.

Did anyone else notice that LaRussa has Izturis hitting 9th behind Braden Looper today? He must be going for that 2nd leadoff hitter...

Pirates announcer: Those are the kinda out you like, the unproductive ones.

Should the Pirates really be picky about outs?

The pirates are by no stretch of the imagination good...but am I the only one that sees them crawling out of the cellar this year and maybe even reaching lower mediocrity?
