btw, please keep referring to them as "dusty baker's reds" in the game thread titles... and everywhere for that matter

What's this all about?

Amazing we were able to win with the cancer of Felix Pie infiltrating the team.

C'mon man, I agree people shouldn't be ripping him and he should be able to work through his struggles, but when you look as lost as he does right now, he's gonna take at least a little heat.

No, Felix did not look good out there today. He was also playing his first full game since April 4th. Even the most irrational of "Felix Pie = Corey Patterson"s out there would agree that a guy needs more than 1 start every 10 games in order to be in any sort of groove.

He had some RGIs.

it's just fun to say that another team in our division is managed by dusty baker.

Indeed it is. I was hoping for something more fun than that though. Like Dusty continuously referring to his team as "my Reds." Oh well.

Yeah and I understand that completely (bolded). But "cancer infiltrating the team" is a little overboard IMO, it's a game thread and theres a lot of spontaneous frustrations posted. Maybe I'm wrong and most people here want him demoted or traded, but thats not the way I see it.

Soriano's injury looked very similar to the one he had last year running to 3B. I'm guessing a 15-day DL trip.

This argument has been going on all over the board, it's nost just spontaneous frustration. People see a speedy CF and want him to be a slappy base stealer. When he has the audacity to strike out, or have a bad week, they want him out of town on a rail

Fair enough. I just haven't had the same impression from the board overall but maybe I haven't paid enough attention. I'm out, nice win Cubs!

I didn't see it, but if people were booing Bako, that does kind of make me laugh, just for the bizarrity of it.

Wait, were people really booing Bako? Wow.

After all, he did make the final out of the NLCS.

Any dugout views of Baker looking dazed and confused?

Just Lou laughing at Dusty

the Felix=Corey comparisons are ludicrous

Corey never had a night at the plate as god awful as Felix's

That is so unbelievably untrue.

while hyperbolic, i stand by the sentiment of my statement. Felix couldn't hit a ball with an oar up there today. he was flailing at everything. it was borderline painful to watch

I realize that, but do you remember some of the ridiculous stretches that Patterson had?

I just got back from the game. Sat 8th row in bleachers in Right Center. I haven't read through this thread, so here's some stuff that I saw:

a) Ken needs to ease of the donuts. He also had a slight limp.

b) Corey could have definately had the first ball he played off the wall. He would have had a questionable shot at the second one. He was harassed all game long (a good 3 or 4 of the hecklers got the boot), even laughing and joking along with some of the people.

c) I boo-ed Bako. Long and hard.

d) Good amount of empty seats empty in the grandstand. Bleachers were full.

e) Pie went pretty hard into the wall in the third and was grimacing for a solid time afterwards. He'll be off tomorrow.

I can honestly say that there are probably some people here on NSBB that could put together better at-bats than Pie had tonight. That being said, he's proven himself at every level and deserves his chance. I think one of the biggest problems is that he's probably getting advice left and right and working on his swing constantly. Probably has too much in his head when he's at the plate, plus the added pressure knowing that Reed Johnson could take over his spot at any moment. I think Lou just needs to come out and say that Pie is the starter and that the Cubs are going to let him work out his problems in the 8th spot in the lineup. He'll still get some days off against lefties, but he's going to get the bulk of the playing time. That way some of the pressure is taken off of him. If he's still sucking come the trade deadline, then you look for a center fielder on the market.
