Mesa, ARIZ. – The Chicago Cubs today reassigned infielder Andres Blanco to minor league camp, reducing the club’s major league spring training roster to 41.

Chicago’s spring roster of 41 players consists of 21 pitchers (two non-roster invitees), three catchers (one non-roster invitee), 10 infielders (three non-roster invitees) and seven outfielders (one non-roster invitee).

Was the ALL CAPS HEADLINE necessary? And who is Andres Blanco?

Sorry, that's the way the emails come in from the Cubs media relations dept.

Blanco is the guy competing with Cedeno for backup ss. He also had the game winning hit the other day.

Oh. I guess he can't be that great if he couldn't even beat out Ronny.

Just because some PR flak does it doesn't mean it is right. In fact it usuaully means it is wrong.

True, I wasn't saying it was right. I'm just saying that cut and paste was easier.

The only guy? I thought there was somebody else around.

Cintron.

I think you're confusing Blanco with Cintron. Cintron is the person who is the main competition to Cedeno, and Cintron was the person who had the game winning hit yesterday (although it sounds now like there's a decent chance that both Cintron and Cedeno make the roster).

Blanco was just roster filler who never had a chance to make the major league roster.

Dang, I was hoping to see the lethal combination of Blanco/Blanco at the bottom of the order.....but oh well, I guess we have to go with that unname Rookie, everybody seems to like.

I would have been down with keeping him for a late inning defensive replacement. The guy has a cannon for an arm and it looks like he is very talented defensively.

That said, I understand we don't really have room to keep another MI just for that.

Put him behind the dish with that arm...he can't be worse at the plate that Hank.

YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST OF ME!!!

Now Bob Sanders you know better. If you going to make that statement, you have to include the cliche evil, sinister laugh. Otherwise, it isn't a promise, it's more of a slap and tickle joke.
