Next time you talk to him, tell him he should wear the Captain America costume while pitching.

Better than the hooters costume he has! the batter might be seeing 3 balls during the windup.

200 innings, lol

Nothing funny at all about the idea of Dempster pitching 200 innings for us this year. :banghead:

It's actually a little concerning that he thinks he's going to pitch 200 innings this year.

If Dempster reaches 200 innings that will mean he had a pretty damn good season. I just don't see that happening.

I'm mad that this jobber would say anything at all.....why do people even interview him? He's honestly one of the worst players on the Cub's roster this year. He should shut his mouth and better be prepared to have a good year.

The season AFTER Shawn Estes left the Cubs, he was allowed to pitch 200 innings for a ML club, and posted a 1.624 whip and an 84 ERA+. I wouldn't be too confident 200 innings automatically means success.

We have other guys ready to go if Dempster doesn't pitch well. Still he has to win the position, its not like he has started at all the past several years.

By that logic, you must be one of the board's best posters, with such freely stated hashness here. ;)

It's just an interview, man, be entertained by it or move on. Dempster, IMO, is easily a better interview than 90% of athletes anyway.

First day and already delusions of grandeur.

I'll never knock a player for having confidence in his team's ability ... rather that than the opposite.

Of course, the irrationally superstitious me worries that this is tempting fate and not worth the risk.

If I were Bruce, you'd have to fight me to get me to interview anyone that isn't Dempster. It's such a relief when you find an athlete that's actually quotable.

I dont mean to be a party pooper, but can we have ONE year with no quotes before spring training and allow our play to speak for itself? I'd just hate to see this stupid quote brought up during the season if we tank.

I'd love to seem Dempster in a boadcasting role with the Cubs down the line, so long as he's only allowed to do the Harry impression once a month and for less than 90 seconds.
