I really have no problem with Desipio, they're kind of the WSI of the Cubs world. I'm glad there is an outlet for those type of people who are also Cub fans.

In all seriousness I wasn't casting aspersion on Desipio. I've gone on and read their board and some of the stuff is funny, but much of it resembles the Pedro Martinez Thread that just got locked. That type of thread would have gone on for weeks over there. It's just not my type of discussion.

I can't see it from Fukudome. I'm expecting .285/.355/.455 or something similar. To get into .300s, you either have to have plus power or Abreu bbs, he won'thave either.

 

hes going to get 15-20 HRs minimum and 40-50 doubles. give him a .300 BA (pretty likely) and 70-80 walks (pretty likely) that makes him comparable to JD Drew in 2006..which was a .300 EqA. and Fred Lynn (career .297 EqA).

 

I'll go on record as saying that this kind of production out of Fukudome will have me tap-dancing in the streets. Them's some good numbers.

1. Read Moneyball.

2. OBP is the difference between Kevin Youkilis and Jeff Francoeur.

3. It's also the reason Adam Dunn is vastly underrated.

4. Very simply, OBP is a way to tell how good someone is at not making outs. It’s the total number of times a guy gets on base without being responsible for making an out (except for reaching on errors), divided by his plate appearances -- which are simply times a guy comes up to the plate and tries not to make an out. See why it’s valuable? (Plate appearances in this case are defined as At Bats + Walks + Sacrifice Flies.)

I don't really understand why we bother them as much as we do. It's not like we sit here and rip on them constantly, like they do to us. This is like the 2nd thread that I've ever seen discussion about them in.

 

I met somebody on an online game once who was a Cubs fan, and I asked him if he was familiar with NSBB, and he said "I don't go to that garbage site. Go check out Desipio" then he left the game and added me to his blacklist. I don't really get it.
