Ironically, you've sat here and argued with us for about an hour. So I guess you are pretty big on the whole arguing thing.

The difference is that QB ratings aren't scientifically developed and tested. They don't check the accuracy of them. Generally the most important thing for QBs is completion percentage (and for pass defense in general as well).

i disagree with victorino. not to use the "seen him play" argument, but he's an excellent defender (10 assists and covers sa lot of ground) and great baserunner (37 of 41 in SBs, also reads the ball off the bat really well).

i just don't see why there's something inherently bad about basing a judgement about a player on extensive exposure to them and a fuller understanding of their contributions. the best usage of statistics is as a record of what every player has done, since none of us watch 162 games for all 30 teams. we'd prefer to put our trust exclusively into similarly subjective statistical manipulations?
