As long as we get Lugo or Lowrie at the same time, I don't mind the package of players mentioned at all. :D

If the price is right, I'd have some interest in Crsip. I'm not sure I'd want to do a three player deal if Murton and Wuertz are two of those three.

I'd deal Murton for Crisp and likely throw in another player. Murton + Dempster or Murton + Marquis, and I'd have no reservations.

Murton + Wuertz appears a bit costly, but is likely doable. The third player in a deal like that would have to be someone I don't think we'd miss.

Hoops, this goes back to something that we agreed upon quite awhile ago: Hendry has a public position on Pie (untouchable, starting CF) and a private position in which he is listening to offers for him. I have posted before that I think Lou is like many other managers in that you go with veterans over rookies when you have a chance.

Still trying to figure out how Crisp is better than Pie...

Depends on the situation. If he's replacing Pie because Pie was dealt as part of a deal to net us Greene, hells yes he's better than Pie.

Oh, if only...

Yea, that's the only situation in which I'd want him.

He's not better than Pie in the long run, but next year I bet he will be. And we're not talking about getting crisp with pie still on the team. We're saying that we would get Crisp if Pie is traded in a different deal.

Why not just sign Lofton then? He's better too

Wow it took 29 posts before His name got thrown into the discussion. I was wondering how He could be incorporated into this thread. Kudos.

On another note, mmmm....Crisp Pie...

You mean Hoops (or his source, I guess) is completely making this up?

Yeah, hoops has given solid info for years - No hating on him.

So if Murton goes back to the BoSox in this trade, the entire Nomar experience never happened, right?

This is what I feel like when I think of the Nomar experience:

I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Nomar experience was one of my favorite Cub memories in my lifetime. Nomar is/was my favorite non-Cub for a really long time, and to get to see him on the team was awesome, regardless of the injuries/average play.

As for the topic, I'd rather sign Lofton.

Well, I'm pretty confident the Cubs are going to get Roberts now, since they seem to be trying to replace Pie with talks of Byrd and now Crisp. Hopefully we get something along with BRob, if we give up Pie, and hopefully it's not Jay Payton.

I like Crisp better than Lofton. Although Wuertz, Murton, and a pitcher is a comically bad deal. Epstein is not dealing from a position of strength, Crisp has not been very good for two years now and isn't cheap. Crisp should be a buy-low proposition.

Did you forget they were offering Lester, Crisp, Flotsam and Jetsam for Santana earlier this winter. He might be the most overrated player in the majors. I'd rather sign Corey over trading something for Crisp they are essentially the same player.

If Theo wants to trade him, then he shouldn't expect a large package in return.

Unless he thinks he can outsmart Jim Hendry, which is hard to do.

I totally agree with each and every point. Crisp doesn't thrill me, but if we're also getting rid of Marquis or Dempster then it's a lot better.

I just don't want another Pierre type deal.

and when I mean the same player they are both really 680-730 OPS type CFs with above average D. Corey is a straight lefty but plays better defense and has a much better arm IMO. Crisp has a slightly better bat and patience and is a switch hitter
