Have been procrastinating on this offering and finally saw how front loaded it is - basically it's all April and May.

Anyone doing this?

All in all, price is alright, isn't it? Thoughts?

I got yelled at last time I weighed in, but the timing of the games just aren't worth it to me. My budget can't afford to lock in 7 games at inconvenient times when I'd rather put that money towards 10 games that fit best into my plans.

Yeah, and if you do end up wanting a couple of those games (probably not all 9) you can easily get them day they go on sale. Those dates are not in demand at all.

I'm pissed that I bought that 9 pack and then they added a bunch of dates, especially later dates and added Cardinals games.

Where's that at?

I'd imagine they felt the need to add those to make up for not offering the Friday White Sox game.

They sent out a new email offering the Starting 9 pack to people registered at Cubs.com (not necessarily awaiting season tickets). I got the second email on Monday. It features the following dates:

Friday, August 8 vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Friday, September 19 vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Saturday, September 20 vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Saturday, July 12 vs. San Francisco Giants

Saturday, August 30 vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Read the email carefully. You don't get all those dates, you get to choose from those dates. If you click the link to buy tickets, you still have pretty much the same choices as the original starting nine pack had, except some of the dates (Friday White Sox) are no longer available. You still have to choose a bunch od April and May dates and you can't choose all five of those to make up the pack.

I know this pack isn't the greatest, but you have to remember that 40% of home games are in April/May this year so it really isn't that bad I guess.

There's a link to it on the Cubs.com homepage, so I'm pretty sure at this point anyone who wants to can buy one.

Thanks.

As I never visit Cubs.com, I didn't realize.

When do single game tix go on sale? The travel is what concerns me about the 9 pack, not the games.

Three weeks from today. Probably around 9 or 10 AM.

I ordered mine the morning the email went out to all wait-listed season ticket holder wannabes (myself included). But being new to Wrigleyville and Chicago, I didn't realize that the 200s were not a good idea due to obstructed views. I was going to get upperdeck, but noticed the resell value was higher in the 200s

I plan to sell about 1/2 of them. Though there are actually tickets at face-value on stubhub right now. Which is kinda scary. Guess these May day games just aren't worth much. Think it'll get better?

My seats are usually in rows 13-14 (hopefully before the poles), though a couple games are in row 19. Does anyone know what seat numbers are aisles, and closer to poles? I wonder if I should just sell the whole lot and try to get single game tickets for myself in the upper deck like i wanted.

Ya, 200 level is a bad place to see a game most of the time.

May day games won't go for much over face unless they are playing the Cards or it is on the weekend. I was going to get the Starting 9 pack to sell only, but figured that by the time I got all of my money, just putting the money in a nice savings account with ING would have made me almost all of the money once you subtract all of the effort that goes along with selling tickets.

A nice gesture from the Cubs for actual fans, but not allowing them to make money off of their generosity. Overall a pretty solid business move by the Cubs.

The only way to make money off the starting nine would have been someone who intended to go to the April-May games on the package and then sell the premium dates on there, like the White Sox game. Anyone who wanted to do the reverse, will probably lose a little money on the gambit.

I dunno. Single game tickets are going to be even more scarce than usual this year, and that's going to drive up demand on the secondary market. Once February 22 rolls around, I think it will be fairly easy to get at least face value for some of the April and May games.

That was kind of my thought as well. Right now it seems there's just too much product on the secondary market sites and scarcely any demand at all. The result is a lot of resellers pricing their tickets at or even below face value. Can't imagine that being the case for long. The demand will come. Just gotta wait for it.

This was my plan to subsidize my baseball habit (having just moved to Chicago a few blocks from Wrigley, I didn't think I could resist). If it doesn't work, I may be forced to part with my late-season games against St Louis to cover the credit card bill.
