I don't really see anything wrong with this. Looks kinda cool.

It's not the look, it's the fact that it adds just that much extra traffic (of any kind) to the area.

I really wish these plans would've come through:

I don't remember...Why didn't they?

are those the practice facility for the Cubs? I was wondering what would happen to those plans if this went through.

Think it's sort of a mini-mall including batting cages & a parking lot.

In that regard, I just assume that because the area is popular, it will continue to develop. I guess it's hard for me to empathize, as it is a destination for me rather than a home. I understand where you're coming from though.

The underground batting cages connecting to the clubhouse(s) were part of it, yeah. The plans were put on hold because of the impending sale. This was from last weekend and I'm sure the Cubs already knew about the proposal for the complex across the street:

The proposed Triangle Building, named for the triangular plot of land bordered by Clark Street, Waveland Avenue and the west side of the ballpark, has been on hold for years as the ownership situation gets resolved.

"There will be someday, in somebody's life, a Triangle Building," McGuire said.

McGuire said constructing a parking lot in the structure "is probably not the most efficient use" because of all the congestion. Kenney said the ISFA recommended a long-range parking solution to build a "multilayer" parking lot a few blocks from Wrigley. If there ever is a Triangle Building it will likely feature restaurants and other fan amenities.

The restaurants and Cubs HOF were part of the original plans, I believe.

Oh and the worst part of this proposal. Unless they build a 7-11 into the retail section, where the hell am I supposed to get my Big Gulp to fill with booze before the game?

...Or what about my Slurpie after the game to sober up before heading home?

You've got to admit though folks that there is a better use for that land than what is there now.

Here is a google map of the area.

Holy Crap, its going all the way past Eddy! Then its definitely going to take out Goose Island and probably all the way past Red Ivy (good riddance). That sucks, I love Goose Island to eat before games. I camped out there all day last October for the playoff game where we got eliminated. The outcome sucked but I've always thought they had great food and obviously excellent beer.

Yeah, I mean it isn't the biggest deal in the world to me, especially since by the time it would be done I may not even be living here. But this neighborhood is very particular about stuff like that. I mean hell, they had to have tons of meetings just to accept concerts at Wrigley.

But those old plans to add directly onto the Wrigley parking area were awesome. I'm pretty sure they put that off because of the ownership issue, but it still is in the plans at some point.

I didn't look that closely...if it is going to destroy half of Wrigleyville I am opposed. At least the most popular bars are on the other side of the street (Cubby Bear, Sluggers, Barleycorn, Moes). If Goose Island is gone, I will be sad. I love that place. Watched the Super Bowl last season there, also watched the #1/#2 Michigan/OSU game there, ate way too many Stilton Burgers there, etc.

Just created that. Looks like it will extend to Goose Island. I can't tell if Mullens will go under either, but definitely wont go past Mullens

I certainly wouldn't mind if they knocked down Mullens regardless of whether the construction extends that far. But that's just me.

According to that, Goose Island and Mullens are goners. Red Ivy survives.

I could care less about Mullens, but I will mourn the hell out of Goose Island. They should move across the street and replace the waste of space that is known as Sluggers.

I'm sure Goose Island will maintain a residence in Wrigleyville, whether it be in this new property or a different one.

I though that for those that tended to malign traffic in the Wrigleyville area, that having that parking garage in the Triangle Building would be a bad thing because it would bring more traffic to the area. I would want to restrict automobile use as much as possible.

Supposedly part of that proposal was to dedicate a significant percentage of the parking spots to residents, but who knows if that's what would actually happen.

The real waste is all those homes. There could be bars and and stores there.

the Wrigleyville residents are like the world's worst Homeowner's Association times a million

Their neighborhood is special only because of Wrigley, yet they act like it's the worst thing in the world.

That would be the 7/11 gone on the one end, right? Good riddance to that. A couple sports shops gone on the other end, I think.

Eh.....looks like it isn't in the area of any of the more well known clubs. I have no idea if this would be approved or not. Maybe Goose Island is given a good location inside the new complex.

According to that sports corner actually stays, thats the cut out on the north east corner of clark and addison (upper left part of the border. 7-11 is at the upper right along with the parking lot, thats gone. Inbetween them off the top of my head is a starbucks and a ticket broker, and possibly a small sports store. Really nothing along addison is worth a damn.

As a visitor to the area this is great if they put a hotel there and only a hotel there. There are very few places to stay in the area. I'm not a fan of residence living. Also reducing it by 3 floors may be a good thing.

No thanks.

A parking spot would have been great, especially in that area. Too bad the Cubs couldn't buy that piece of land and use it as parking space, for them to generate more revenue.
