The Nationals Park really disappoints me. It looks like every park thats been built in the last 5-10 years. I was really hoping they'd do something unique to help excite their fan base with a beautiful innovative park. I guess I'd vote the Minnesota Park but I'm interested to see how the new Yankee Stadium looks when its done. I can't imagine the Yankees playing anywhere other than Yankee Stadium.

What do you think about the Yankee Stadium rebuild, yanksfan?

Well to be honest, I am torn. On one hand, I am going to miss the stadium. I grew up watching this team play there and I love going. It is a beautiful stadium and I will miss it, especially monument park.

On the other hand, there are many reasons for a new stadium, the least of which is revenue. I am a realist and the entire notion of it ruining the Yankee legacy is garbage. It isn't the same stadium that Ruth, Gehrig, Joe D, Mantle played in. Most people forget that the stadium was remodeled in the 70s. This changed the configuration and structure of the stadium. They removed posts and support structures and removed the facade from around the stadium. This did cause problems, in '96 pieces of the stadium fell from the upper deck and crushed seats below it.

I would have preferred the tore the old stadium down and the new one rebuilt on the same site. However I am just glad they are staying in the Bronx. George wanted a new stadium in Manhattan and years ago threatened to move them to New Jersey (which would have killed me).

I am glad the went with the classic Yankee Stadium design and brought the facade back. The pictures look great:

The Bronx sort of looks like Moscow with a baseball stadium.

The Bronx has a long way to go, but there will be the obligatory redevelopment of the surrounding area. Some of the new green spaces have already been canceled, but some new parks will still be created.

They are adding better ferry service and upgrading the subway platforms. So you might actually be able to stay around after the night games, LOL.

I'm late as hell to this thread, but I'm surprised more people aren't excited about Citi.

I can't wait till we never have to watch the Cubs play in that dump known as Shea Stadium, and I've never even been there. It even sucks on TV.

Minnesota is probably next on the list, though the Metrodome doesn't bug me as much since the Twins are in the AL.

Shea is a pit and an awful place to watch a game.

I watched a game there against the Cubs a few years back. Between the obnoxious fans, the airplanes flying overhead, the old uncomfortable seats, and the overal cold and dull atmosphere, it was a bad experience.

Yeah, Shea is a toilet.

But to be perfectly honest, I think Old Yankee Stadium isn't worlds better. If it weren't for the historical value, there wouldn't be much there. Granted, watching a game there isn't as bad as some other parks, but it's an aesthetic mess, IMO.

the problem is that citi field will still be in flushing meadows. i went to a game with my dad back in 2004 (we don't need to get into what happened on the field), and we left south jersey a few hours before the game, just in case we hit traffic. well we didn't hit much, and got to the field with plenty of time before first pitch... so our plan was to park, walk to a restaurant or sports bar, eat lunch and have a couple of cold ones, then head to the dump known as shea stadium. well, that would've been a great plan if shea wasn't surrounded by about 500 auto body shops.

(that is my biggest beef with the philly sports complex as well - the new venues are nice, but there's absolutely nowhere to go within walking distance of the park. very different than fenway or wrigley or camden yards, and not different in a good way)
