Detroit Lions.

The Lions have a ton of holes and they could go LT/RT, RB or DE here.

don't forget WR!!!

Why don't you quit making fun of Matt Millen and make your pick, eh?

Well, the Eagles have tried very hard in the offseason to get a #1 receiver. They almost had Moss, offered Lito Sheppard and a pick for Larry Fitzgerald, and also have looked into Roy Williams. A lot of people are thinking we'll go with a WR in the first round because of this, but there really aren't any #1 receivers in this draft unless there is a pretty big surprise. Our OT's are aging, but with Long, Clady, Otah (thank God - I probably would've had to pick him for realistic-ness and then watch him bust) and Williams off the board, any OT here would be a reach.

So, it looks like either DE or safety to me. The next best DE looks like Philip Merling from Clemson, but I don't think he provides the pass rush that we need. Future Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins is getting old, and Sean Considine is average at best. We tried to sign Gerbil Wilson away from the Giants, but he decided to go play for (lose with) the Oakland Raiders. No hard feelings, as he'll be badly overpaid. Anyway, Kenny Phillips is easily the best safety available this year, and would've gone in the top 10 if he'd had a strong junior year. But he, much like the rest of "the U," was a little disappointing in 2007. Still, I am gonna go with him, and assume that it was just a down year for everyone, and his physical ability and intensity will make him Miami's next great safety.

I had to confer in the war room. With the 22nd pick of the draft, the Cowboys select WR Devin Thomas from Michigan State. The Cowboys are in need of a reciever and playmaker as TO is getting up there in age, Terry Glenn is likely done, and Patrick Crayton is more of a third receiver. Thomas adds the size and speed needed to be an elite receiver in the NFL.

This pick is not even a little bit difficult. The Steelers are in desperate need of help on the OL. I would have preferred B. Albert of C. Williams, but such is life. Thus, with the 23rd selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...

Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College

He could come in and start at RT immediately.

Even though I'm not a part of dew's war room, as a Titan fan myself I think their biggest need is undoubtedly WR.

Also, is anyone else noticing how much fast this year's mock draft is going compared to last year?

I agree to an extent PriorPower. WR is definitely a top need, but DE is just about as close. Vanden Bosch is fine on one side, but I'd like to see somebody to split time with Kearse - and to keep him healthy. Seeing, though, as the best DEs in the draft are now gone, WR it is.

Limas Sweed is a favorite to be drafted, as is Malcolm Kelly from Oklahoma. With the 24th pick in the NFL draft, though, the Titans select:

Wide receiver, from Indiana University, James Hardy.

Hardy is the biggest receiver in the draft - something Vince needs badly, a big target to throw to - and runs similarly well to Sweed. Sweed has the Texas roots that would give him a leg up in the Titans eyes (familiarity with Vince), but I see Hardy as having more raw potential than Sweed and being as solid a playmaker.

mhuber92211 and the Seahawks are now on the clock.

EDIT: And PriorPower, you're more than welcome into the Titan war room, my friend. I've got a good idea of the Titans' needs, but will take any advice I can get.

Am I allowed to trade some of my million picks to move back into the first round?

We did not last year because it would be very confusing and time-consuming.

Thus, I'm assuming we're not this year.

Hardy is interesting there. His size is great, but it's not so much more than Sweed or Kelly to pick him over either of them, IMO. Sweed is faster. Kelly is as fast. Both have better hands and are better route runners. Hardy is probably the least polished of the 3 and I don't think he necessarily has any more upside than them.

Malcom Kelly isn't a first round pick.

1) He has major knee issues, and has been already medically removed from some draft boards becaues of this.

2) He had a HORRIBLE pro day

3) He acted like a douce after his pro day performance, further turning off people.

His knee is fine, it's his hammy that has teams bothered. His pro day was fine, aside from relatively slow 40 times. The "blowup" afterwards was overblown, I saw the entire interview and all he did was say that the medical staff misdiagnosed him (they did).

His vertical #'s where pretty bad too..especially for a possesion type receiver.

I think his vert was 32 inches, which isn't brutal or anything. He won't be a first rounder but he'll be good value in the second round.

so does this pick slide to me when the time runs out, like the Vikings did with the Kevin Williams draft?

Nah. The group just makes a consensus choice and then it's on to the next pick.

I like Hardy's natural abilities more than Sweed's. Along with being 2 inches (roughly) taller, he's got a slightly better vertical than Sweed. Also, Hardy's 40 time was actually slightly better than Sweed's.

Also - and I don't think this can be overlooked - he was basically Indiana's only offensive threat (save QB Kellen Lewis), therefore he's shown he can be the only weapon and still perform at a very high level.

This situation is far more comparable to what he'll face in Tennessee than anything Sweed or Kelly have dealt with.
